Custom Built Evader ST
Well, here it is, my compleet (almost) custom evader st . . .ish looking thing. All i need now is a team associated rc10 gt stearing system, and its done!
Here are the pics From the top, the batt is the only thing that will be on top, all the electronics and wiring will be between chassis and upper deck, still have to make some batt straps that bolt on top on the upper deck mounts (see next picture) http://members.shaw.ca/ctardi/DSCF0391.JPG From low down on the side, not the copper spacers, hehe http://members.shaw.ca/ctardi/DSCF0392.JPG From the front http://members.shaw.ca/ctardi/DSCF0393.JPG For more pictures, visit http://members.shaw.ca/ctardievaderst |
looks interesting, are you gunna clean up the edges? They look rough... maybe it's the picture.
What's that white thing on the motor? Also, what did you use for the standoffs? Are those buggy rims on the rear? Is that a Stealth transmission? IMO, I'd put the battery on the bottom for a lower CG, and put the Rx and ESC on top... just a suggestion... Looks cool though! |
also, that link doesn't work... 'Page not found'
|
I will clean up the edges when i get a grinder, hopefully tuesday, the copper peices are copper pipe fittings, the batt wouldnt do good on the bottom, as it would stick out and get bashed, The white thing on the motor is a teflon bearing guard, dunno, came on thte motor, the link should be http://members.shaw.ca/ctardi/evaderst
and the transmision is a stock evader st tranny Here are pics with the new motor guard and front shock tower, rear to come soon http://members.shaw.ca/ctardi/DSCF0394.JPG http://members.shaw.ca/ctardi/DSCF0395.JPG http://members.shaw.ca/ctardi/DSCF0396.JPG |
the wheels are stadium truck wheels ordered from duratrax :)
|
ive done some more work on it, mainly filed all the edges to make it look like it wasnt cut by a 3 year old.
Here it is after a nice bath, added receiver guard on right side of chassis http://members.shaw.ca/ctardi/DSCF0397.JPG From the side, note the new batt strap http://members.shaw.ca/ctardi/DSCF0398.JPG Here she is from the front. I finally got a tap so that i could thread everything. . . http://members.shaw.ca/ctardi/DSCF0399.JPG And from the back, i finally sanded that motor guard. http://members.shaw.ca/ctardi/DSCF0400.JPG Just waiting for the darn steering system to come in. also pickin up some fule hose to put around the battery hole, so i dont cut a battery |
interesting design.
If you don't mind me asking, what made you want to make it? I don't think you will have any flexing issues! |
YEa, the design was one i just made as i went, the only reason there is a upper deck is to hold the batt and the bulkhead at the right angle
Why? Well, i have been wanting a lot of aluminium hop ups, but they are expensive and there arnt very many. So, orrigionally, i asked a friend to make me a rear shock tower (still isnt done yet) and then i found out how easy it is to make alum. parts. So i started off with a chassis, then needed an upper deck and bumper. The i had some scrap and made a front shock tower. |
So, im home sick from school today, and i finished my evader, pics to com later, my brothers got the camera. Im just chargin a pack to run it after lunch :D:D:D
|
let us know how it is!
Hey just curious, since you have a duratrax... what's to stop you from just ordering more and more parts? (the Stress Tech Garuntee) Do you have to send the broken part or something? |
Yea, you have to send in broken part. Even if it is painted, or only scratched they will replace it.
Well, the moment you have all been waiting for, ITS DONE! :D I was home sick from school today, and i finished it up. Just got in from takin it for a spin. This thing is unbelevable. Its indestructable. I hit a curb at top speed, and it just got a scratch (which i sanded out) it handles suprisingly well, but i need to make a few more adjustments to get out all the kinks. Well, heres some pics from before i had it all adjusted and before the chrome spacers were on http://members.shaw.ca/ctardi/DSCF0401.JPG http://members.shaw.ca/ctardi/DSCF0402.JPG http://members.shaw.ca/ctardi/DSCF0403.JPG http://members.shaw.ca/ctardi/DSCF0404.JPG |
wow, my compliments!
What turn is that goofy motor? :sneaky: Throw a Brushless in that thing... :sneaky: |
1 Attachment(s)
so when can we expect aluminum arms?:D :deathstar:
I might start a small project like this, since I have access to a Metal lathe, Mill, Bandsaw, etc.... right here in my backyard :D I have attached a photo of some things my dad and I made... Mine is gunna consist of many random parts from an assortment of cars... mostly from a Losi LXT I had... It's gunna have: Associated Stealth Transmission Losi LXT Front Arms Aluminum Front Shock Tower maybe a XXXT Steering or RC10GT system RC10T4 Rear End (maybe, whatever I match to the Losi lxt front arm width) |
It's only a 20 turn. But it gets that thing movin pritty good. Ill go brushless when i get money aka. when money grows on transmitters, i mean trees
