Default Next car: 2wd 1/10 buggy, 1/8 buggy, 4wd SCT?

I'm ready for my next car but I'm stuck. I live equal distance from 3 great tracks. At one 2wd 1/10 buggy is most popular, at the other it's <edit>4wd</edit> 1/8 buggy, and at the other it's 4wd SCTs.

I have an SC10 all hopped up and a nice touring car. I want one more off-road car so I can race/practice in two classes. I'm tempted to go with 1/10 2wd buggy for nostalgic reasons but 1/8 seems like it would be a bigger challenge/difference from my SC10.

Considering:
- Schumacher Cougar SV Pro or AE FT RC10 B4
- AE RC8Be or Losi 8ight-e
- Jammin SCRT10

Suggestions? I'm sure I'll end up with all of these at some point but I can't decide which to start with.

A buddy of mine said the 1/8 electrics are fun but the electronics wear out really quickly because they take more of a beating from the larger, faster vehicle. What electronics did you go with for your 2.0? Any tips?

I was wanting (still do) an Losi 2.0, after looking and adding up the added cost of the electrics, it is just murder. Out of those I would go with the 1/10 buggy or the SCT, I'd lean a little more towards the SCT, but that's just cause I love 4WD's. However if you can afford the 1/8, go for it, I bet they drive way different then anything else.

If your gonna buy a 4wd SCT, I highly recommend you wait on that because there is stuff on the horizon that will blow the doors off the current offerings.

If your going 8 scale... You can't go wrong with the AE or Losi.

Then you have the cheapest of the bunch and easily the most prestigious. 2wd buggy. Many great choices here and this class won't go away. The great joe smalley once said, when a nuclear bomb goes off, all that will be left are roaches, twinkies and 2 wheel buggies.

HAHA! That's pretty much why I was leaning towards the 1/10 2wd buggy. It's cheap to get into and you'll always have enough people for a race. I had a Losi JRX2 back in the early 90s when I was in middle school and loved it. I guess I'm leaning towards the Schumacher because the RC10s were what the "old guys" ran back then.

My vote goes to 2WD 10th scale.

I ran short course and stadium truck at my local track and the buggy is 10x more fun and challenging. I actually happen to have the Cougar (1st buggy) and it's a great platform to start with. I can't take anything away from the B4 though as it holds several records and parts can be found in your couch if you look hard enough.

I give the Cougar hell and all I've broken was a ballcup and a ballstud. There are cinderblocks at the end of one of the doubles at my local track and I've smacked the hell out of them MANY a time. Nothing more than a couple of scrapes.

4wd sct

I was looking at it and it looked more fun than the 2wd sct

I bought one

I loved it & it is not my favourite class

but there is a lot of collision, bad manners, and contacts

if you like it clean go buggy or else its all 4wd sct

Cool

I have the Tekin RX8 and 2050 setup, ace servo and spektrum and Protek 4s lipo. Just got everything, cannot wait to finally get it to the track! I fired it up the other day and the power is awesome. I now have the freedom to go to 1/8 scale traacks too which is great

If you did 2wd buggy, I would try to steer you into the FTB4 just from the fact you already have an SC10 so you could share parts.

1/8 electric is fun, no doubt, but does throw in significant cost over what setting up a FTB4 would be.

Maybe you should go to the tracks and see if anyone will let you wheel there vehicle for a bit to see if you like it or not.

If this helps...I used to race 2WD Short Course, upgraded to 4x4 Short Course, and it was fun and all...and then saw E Scales run a few months ago. I was absolutely AMAZED by the performance then! So, I ended up getting one, and all I can say is, it is absolutely the most fun vehicle I have driven. Insane speed, in air control, big air in general, and not to mention, very good durability. These things can take an absolute beating, not saying you should bash it, but if you were to wreck, they sure stand up to more than my 4x4 SCT had! As for people saying it's expensive to get into, it can be...but also, check the for sale/trade forum here on RCtech. There's A LOT of deals for like new vehicles, and even prices around what you'd pay for a 4x4 SCT!

I race the cougar and love it. you cant go wrong with a 2w buggy. I actually had a losi 1.0 converted to electric and it rocked. The only reason I sold it was there are no tracks in my area. I could go to the local bashing track but I enjoy racing. If you have the tracks to race I would definaitly go 1/8. They handle like no other. I would also buy some of the stuff used. Just look on the for sale section to see whats out there.

In case no one has mentioned it yet, those buggies are 4WD. There aren't any 2WD 1/8 that I'm aware of.
