How do you rit dye rims?
I got 8oz of black Rit Dye from the internet, since Im gonna have to boil off the old Rit Dye from the previous owner. Is 8oz enough?
Im thinking of cutting open maybe 2x4 beer or a 32oz miller lite and filling the bottom of the can with the rit dye and doing one rim at a time, but could someone give me some input?
How long do they need to be dyed for?
Just a general of how to dye rims would be helpful.

You can't "boil out the old dye", Its not paint, It has been absorbed by the plastic and changed its colour.
Having said that you maybe able to re-dye whatever it is to black.
I haven't used rit-due but have used a similar locally available product, I boiled a pot of water, threw in the items and the dye, reduced the heat.
When they were the colour I wanted I poured off the water, retrieved my items from the pot and laid em out on the bench to cool.

You'll want to dye all the rims at the same time so they are all the same color. As long as you're going black you should have no trouble over dying any old color. You can boil the water in one container and do the dying on another. The water just has to be hot.
Good Luck

JUst get a pan add water then boil. once boiling add the dye. for me i just use the whole thing. you will want to turn the heat down so it does not boil over. add parts let boil with dye. I always stir them around to get all the parts dyed. Wear gloves it gets hot. once they are desired color i pull them out and add the next set. I would dye as many parts as you have. the longer the parts sit the better the plastic will dye. the parts will get pretty soft so with softer rims or wings use care not to smash them and change there shape. after i have the right color i sit them on an old towel and let them cool. once cooled i rinse them. i hope this helps

I used a big ole cheap pot I got at the dollar store....boiled water with dye added...then let all my rims soak in the simmering water for as long as it took to get the color I wanted. I did a red set and a black set. Black was in there for a good 4 hours to get em REALLY black instead of deep purple...and the red set only took @ 20-25 minutes to get the color I wanted.
If you want to re-dye rims....it can be done only if you are dying them a darker color than they currently are....

No Florecent rit dye.... just yellow
White rims can take , Green , Red, Blue colors well the longer you leave them the darker they get and stay. After 40 min. pasts I take them out and lay them flat so they don't warp . Have fun with it!
I use my rims over and over and over.
