Default Lipo Disposal

how to you guys get rid of your puffed batteries ? i have a pair of puffed SMCs i've been sittin' on for a few months and i'd like to get rid of them.

Drive a nail thru a 2x4 and put that through the lipo. Watch it catch on fire, burn down, and then throw it away. Dont do this near anything flamable though.

Discharge it, then take it somewhere that recycles batteries. It's the same basic technology as cellphone and laptop batteries.

Salt water.......the salt helps complete their discharge.


Discharge them to something like 1v at very low rate, remove connectors and then drop in bucket of salt water. Mine have turned the water a nice blueish green color after a few hours.

They should all accept these and other batteries for recycling/disposal

I do believe if you sell rechargeable batteries you need to accept ones for disposal as well. I know people used to drop them off at the LHS.

i just take them out back and wack then with a pick axe..Then let them hang outside for a few days... then toss them.

I throw them in a bucket of saltwater for 2 days and toss them in the garbage .
