GS Storm buggy
Any GS Storm buggy owners out there?
What upgrades have you guys installed? And post some pics, if available. I picked up the RTR as my first 1/8 scale buggy. Took it to the track today and am pretty impressed so far. Aside from a bent rear shock tower, which I straightened back out, everything ran pretty smooth. I suppose my first upgrade will be some new Pro shock towers... maybe some hinge braces that I've been hearing about. Oh yeah, any pipe suggestions? The stock pipe is louder than my neighbors old Buick (with a hole in the muffler). |
THE STORM>>>>>>>
Hey, the storm is a great 1/8th scale. competitive rite out of the box. Fioroni, dynamite, and racers edge make great upgrades for it. I raced mine for 2 seasons, I won the 1/8th scale series points in 2002, and 2003 with mine, at RCCCW. i also finished 8th in points in the eastern washington championship tour for 2003. The first upgrades should be
1. hingepine holders DYN7807 2. front shock tower DYN7802 3. rear shock tower DYN7803 4. ackerman plate DYN7801 and the chassis stiffeners, from fioroni. these are all good upgrades, i hear the fioroni chassis is pretty sweet to. mine was not upgraded much, i had pro shocks, and the dynamite hinge pin holders. That was pretty much it. but i was constantly, straightening shock towers, and ackerman plates, just about every run. youve got a great buggy there, take the time to learn to drive it, and it will treat you well. corey |
The storm is great buggy. Corey (crashin73) talked me into getting mine. This is a pretty strong buggy. After racing three weekends w/ mine, I've broke one arm, hingepin holder, bent one ackerman plate, and stripped the gears in the rear diff. And this was a used buggy! The arm was cracked prior to running it too.
I had picked up an extra ackerman plate in a bag of extra parts of eBay, so I put the two ackerman plates together when I bent the first one, should be bulletproof now. I plan on picking up either the Dynamite or Storm Pro shock towers (don't know if I want the red of the Dynamite parts). This is a great first buggy. I have learned a lot with it. Some people run either an Ofna 083 or 086 as a quieter pipe, but I have no experience in a different pipe. Corey didn't list it, but you will also want to upgrade the servos. Good Luck! I'll try and post some pics tonight. Matt |

Here's a few pics of my GS Storm RTR. I went eBay crazy and picked up a few mods at very good prices.
Pro shock towers Pro chasis braces Carbon fibre upper deck pieces Pro wheels Proline crime fighter tires and of course... a new body I still need the hinge pin braces... then I believe most of the known weak points are covered. |

...and under the hood.

...that reminds me, I picked up a Fioroni tuned pipe (MA03)... that thing rocks. It's somewhat quiter than the stock pipe, and definitely puts out more power.

I forgot
Thats rite, thank you matt. you need to upgrade the steering servo, ans shim the servo saver, for dramaticaly increased steering. i still have the stock throttle/brake servo, it is sufficient enough for me. still locks the brakes up, and is plenty quick for the throttle.
You will like that fioroni pipe also. It rocks. corey |
Storm Pro rear shock tower
If anyone is interested, I have a brand new GS Storm Pro 7075 al. shock tower for auction on ebay. happy bidding.

Since you are overseas I'd look here for parts: http://www.nitrotek.co.uk/spare-part...l?price=2%2C10 or CEN Racing: http://cenracing.shptron.com/c/gs-racing-parts I just put together a Storm CLX-e Pro kit. It's an older buggy, but this thing is solid. https://scontent-a-ord.xx.fbcdn.net/...84734584_n.jpg https://scontent-a-ord.xx.fbcdn.net/...98482058_n.jpg https://scontent-b-ord.xx.fbcdn.net/...47764457_n.jpg |
