went to the dirt track with my slash for the first time and i broke down:-) it was so fun though. i can't tell if i broke the drive shaft or if its the piece the drive shaft connects to. i will try to post a pic. i definitly scored the piss out of the drive shaft once it came loose and hit the nut on the steering linkage.

can you tell me what i need to replace and roughly how? from the pic attached?

You broke the plastic hub, part# 6888. Get a hardened steel hub, part# 6888x and the issue will go away.

are they tricky to get off? what seems to be the obvious way to get it off, i'm struggling with. i have the small set screw all the way out and its still not budgin. i must be doing something wrong

take the 4 main chassis screws out and pull the front half of the truck off. now you can get at it easily

the track i do alot of racing at and spend time working for, uses 4x4 slash's as their rentals, 4 out of 5 had the drivetrain fail at the front same as the OP.

we've swapped them all out for aluminum hubs and they've been great, any aluminum hub kit for the slash will be the best investment you ever made.

we let complete newbies drive the crap outta the rentals on the main offroad track, a track that's over half kilometer with a 50ft front jump. LOL... as far as performance upgrades go, aluminum or RPM plastic axil carriers front and rear, and aluminum driveshaft hubs have been the only thing needed to keep the slash's going. even with flying over the fence and never spending more than half a second not doing cartwheels down the back side of every single jump. (birthday parties are the worst, it just makes you wanna cry.. but they keep on tickin'!)

Take the rear end off and check the rear shaft carrier bearing where it goes through the rear brace and the plastic bushing that rides in the bearing on the shaft. This same thing happened to me last week and the rear bearing let go, then it ate the plastic bushing and the whole shaft/slipper has tons of slop.
