I beat mine pretty good for a few packs, no damage yet.

Looking at your photo, maybe part of the problem could be overtightening of the front bulkhead screws???

many reported their broken ESE chassis on the RCShortCourse forum,
http://www.rcshortcourse.com/forum/f...aysprune=&f=98

I know that HPI will replace the new chassis for free, but..... is it going to take care the problem? what happend the 2nd, the 3rd breake again? HPI needs to considering this problem & make some improvement on the material that they make those white ESE plastic.
just my 2 cents.

I broke my chassis this weekend in two pieces, I am very disappointed with this kit. I would call HPI to get a replacement but unless they plan to provide a lifetime of replacement parts I don't want the kit because the plastic is so brittle that if it is not one part breaking it is another

Could this be due to over-tightening the screws? Or when people are dying the chassis? I'm guessing that when dying you are all boiling the Rit dye?

This is an interesting thread. Also following on RCShortcourse.

Ive heard that when you boil the carbon/composite parts it will relax them and keep them from breaking. I did it on all of my losi racing kits and never had out of the norm breaking. Plus the ese is a race truck not a bash truck, so it wasnt intended for the Bash-racing most people do.

Over-tightening the screws!? If that were the case, the cylinder would be flanged and cracked, the chassis is cracked not the cylinder. The chassis is not dyed.... if you boil plastic it actually makes it stronger not weaker, it's the exact opposite of metal

I built an ESE for a buddy that is loving it. He isn't the smoothest driver and he has not had one problem out of it yet. I guess we will see!

If he does break anything, take photos because you will need to send them in to HPI and they will determine if the truck was "abused" to cause the break, they may or may not replace the chassis.
The warranty is cool and all, but calling all the time to get new parts sent out sucks, it's really the only option to replace the borken parts, since most parts aren't available or out of stock......even on HPI's website.

The black chassis is going back on and it's for sale~
