Soldering tips

I've used many cheap soldering irons and they've all worked fine. My personal 4 rules are this...

1. use a paste flux (even if the wire says it has flux in it.)
2. keep the tip clean
3. pre-tin everything
4. always have some solder on the iron, this helps transfer the heat better

If you're skipping one of those, you're making life hard for yourself.

I purchased several weller irons and finally purchased a used Hakko What a life of difference made life so much easier and now look at soldering with no problem, try to pick one up for 50 or 60 bucks
