Default Balancing Clay

I just received my Du-Bro Wheel/Tire Balancer from Tower Hobbies.

What's better, clay/putty or tape? Looking to balance 4-5 sets of wheels.

Thanks in advance.

I personally like clay better as it is much easier to get exact amount . Tape have to pull back of and trim several times to get exact amount .

I picked up regular modeling clay from my local craft store. It doesn't dry out and get hard so it stays on the wheel. I got a pound of it for less than $2 and I've used less than 1/8 pound to balance a ton of wheels.

I use hot glue. sticks are 5 cents and you will only use 1/4 of it. It will also stay in place and will come off it you pry on it with a flat head screwdriver.

Yes, you can use them immediately. If you get clay that dries, it can break/fall off.

Would the clay take on dirt from the track and throw the balance off?

go get some duct seal from Home Depot....sticks better than the clay and its cheap. Comes in a one pound "brick" for like $3 or $4 and will last you forever. Its dark grey in color and wrapped in a white wax paper type stuff. Its in the electrical section by the tape and tools.....and I tell you this because 99% of the people working at the store won't have a clue what you are talking about....

That stuff hardens up over time , better of sticking with modeling clay .
