Decision

Hi,

I am building an RC combo for a friend and he basically wants a car that goes fast, really fast, and that he can race at our local track. I am looking into a factory team t4. I don't want him to be disappointed so he Needs to go fast, but what esc/motor combo is best for him. I was looking into the mmp and 7700 and 5700, but any feedback is great. thanks

t4 wont go over like 75 km\h the front end will pick up amd it will flip over backwards. if u wana go faster get a 4wd buggy and a motor as hot as a 7700 wont work at the track.

MM 7700 is too much motor. i have the 5700 in my b4 and it is plenty fast. the t4 is a good platform. i hope you enjoy your truck.

i'd suggest a 4x4 sct with a 5700 or 6800kv combo. a t4 with a 7700kv would be crazy. if he has the money, 1/8 scale is where it's at for the speed fiend.

thanks for all the replies... So, from what I hear, a 7700 is too much, and 5700 works well, but what he wants is a car that can pull wheelies on the asphalt outside his house as well as be fast on the track. Don't come to me and say "Get a rustler vxl" because those are the worst. doesn't cc have a 6800kv motor? I dont see very many ppl running those... On the 5700kv motor would he run 3s, or 2s? Still open to options, but the combo must me under 200$

Thanks!

Castle has a 6900kv motor but its 2S where the 5700 will run both 2S and 3S so you can have some flexibility. On paper, 5700 on 3S would be faster cause of the higher voltage.

The 7700 is designed for onroad... And a 5700 in a 4x4 SCT is a bad idea.

6.5 Redline Tekin with a RS ESC, it will be to fast, but he wanted fast. :sneaky:

Unless your friend is an experienced racer or extraodinarly coordinated naturally, he will be slower with anything faster than 10.5. A Mamba 5700 is strictly a motor you use so that you have enough power double the tripple at the local track for fun.....worthless for racing. I think the 4600 is the equivalent of an 8.5. I run faster with a 13.5 in my T4 than with a 10.5 and I have a few wins under my belt and some trophies. Honestly, if you are building a car for him it probably means that hes a rookie. All he is going to do with something that fast on a track is wad it up and and crash into everything & everyone on the track.

....just my opinion.

Not many people run the 6900kv because its worthless. It is not rated for 3S but is slower than the 7700kv. Personally I would get him a Sidewinder 4600 combo. It can be had for around $130, can handle 3S (sidewinder with a 5700 is not rated for 3S due to amp draw) and will be extremely fast outside on 11.1v but real quick and controllable on 2S on the track.

I had a 5700 on 11.1v in a basher T4 last Summer and it was crazy fast outside. But too light and before got up to speed wind caught it and flipped it upside down every time.

Absolutely a MM7700 is insane. To give you some idea I had one in a FWD Tamiya Mini Cooper w/2s 4000--fully built up w/all the goodies and it'd do 50+ easily on the street. Needless to say, "Way too much power!" May it R.I.P.

that's a good idea. castle sidewinder 4600kv setup with a 3s lipo for crazy speed/wheelies and 2s for the track. you'd still need to be responsible on the trigger, but that would do pretty good in a T4.

NitroLuver 04-02-2010 09:48 PM

haha I had a 7700 in my xtm e-xcellerator and to this day I have no idea of it's topspeed because it would wheelie too much(I even added weight and it still did it)

honestly a 4600 is still fast and would be hard to control unless you're really good at driving

best bet for being able to control on the track would be a 10.5 in my mind..but the 4600 would be well suited for speed runs on 3s and track running on 2s IMHO
