No need to buy three, just by 1. Youll just have to switch it out to another car before your race.

Buy one and switch it for a weekend or two. You'll probably end up with at least one more maybe two after rushing between rounds to get it switched. I am not sure how long the track you race at gives you between heats, but we only get about 5 minutes around here. If your racing back to back, that will become a big PITA to keep switching it out.

You can get an AMB compatible PT at rclaps.com for about $66 shipped. At that price you can afford more than 1.

EDIT: Oh yeah, they are smaller than an AMB too.

I have a small "extender" coming out from my receiver that "extends" the channel so I don't have to open up my receiver box every time.

I use high quality tape + velcro and I can switch a transponder between cars. Great if on a budget or using a transponder on cars that aren't raced often.

Expensive at first, but I ended up getting 3 transponders for the family when everyone is racing and sometimes when I feel like it, I'll race 3 classes.

Now I just race one class when I can actually stay long enough to race, but it's nice to be able to get the lap times for the other cars without dealing with the 20 seconds of moving the transponder.

Like power windows, it's expensive. But once you've had them, you'll never go back.

I looked at this and it looks like you have to have the AMB first and send it to them to clone... is that right or im i missing something?

There's 2 ways. You can choose to clone yr AMB if u have one.

If not, they build one for you that has 21 programmable numbers for you to choose from.

The order forum states that you must send in your personal transponder if it is your first time ordering. What's up with that?

If you want a clone of an amb you own, you send it to them so they can duplicate the signal.

If you want one of their pt's but don't own an amb, they can provide you one with numbers they own.

No, I recently bought two of the customs. No sending in of anything required. That is ONLY if you want a clone of your existing Amb transponder.
