Default Gearing for Lazer zx-5 on 13.5 brushless

I just picked up a used Lazer zx-5 and put my 13.5 novak system in it. Where should I start as far as pinion/spur sizes?

Thanks
Chris P.

You can use an Associated 72t Spur for that motor. As for pinion, start from bet 28 and 30 teeth. Make sure the temp on your motor is between 160 and 170. If cooler than 160, you can go for bigger pinion as long the temp's not over the limit and there's amount for your motor to move for proper gear mesh. Almost forgot, place a fan near the motor for extra cooling.

I ran mine 72/32 with a Speed Passion system with fan included and hottest that can go is 145 and might go one tooth higher is there's space for the motor to move.
