Very interested in this. If you don't want to share the parts list here, please PM me.

Will Tamiya put out a complete "new" buggy kit together. Sell the Big Bores and New Chassis as a complete kit for those of us that do not have a 201?

Thanks

I'm sure they will, but don't expect it to be cheap. Tower Hobbies is selling the current version for more than $400, so expect the new one to be even more expensive.

Ok guys need some help. Been running onroad for years and years, but recently I relocated due to a new job. Where I am now, there is a lot more offroad than onroad and I am looking at picking up a 201 to get into it. What I am looking for is some advice on spares and hopups. What spares are needed and which are nice to have. What hopups are needed, which are nice to have, and which aren't needed.

Trying to go into this is a bit daunting. lot's of reading, but any advice would be great.

Check out my last post. My car is kit everything, except ae big bore springs (brown front green rear). The track where I run is a medium high bite clay/topsoil surface. Clay compound bar style tire. If you guys want I can post my full setup.

As far as spares, I have a couple little things, but I would have hubs, arms, hardware, hinge pins, ballcups, shock ends, and other little stuff like that. Really it depends on how much you crash. Last race night I had 2 turn marshals, and they were just where I hing a pipe. I don't crash, I don't break. The car is durable enough to drive as hard as I can, and I don't have to worry about something failing. Like I said in my last post. I love this car.

I still need to get a couple things figured out to get the car to the legal width (now it is about 10mm too wide). I am about to order the parts I think I need to get it there. That said, there is a part that I will need to make to do the conversion the way I think it should be done. I can let you know the part number for the raw materials, or I can just make them and sell them. They are just spacers to sleeve the spindle kingpin holes down to 2.5mm, that way you can stick with the Tamiya caster blocks and kingpins. Right now the rear wheels are B4 hex wheels, and I think the 22 fronts are the key to the width.

That's better. It will be interesting to see what RC mart end up selling them for.

Thanks for the advice iuonlyknew. Anyone else have any insight into hopups they use?

These are the hopups I run

54242 Aluminum suspension mount 3.0 front
54243 Aluminum suspension mount 3.0 rear
54262 Reinforced ball diff set (must have!)
54246 Aluminum rear upright 1.0
54265 Reinforced front arms
51279 501X rear arm (needs to be modified to fit)
54220 Associated front axle
42222 Aluminum center gear
54344 Lightweight idler shaft
54276 Motor plate

Exotek +8 chassis extension
Associated big bores

And I am experimenting with a JConcepts Finisher body for the B4.1 and also a Proline Bulldog body for an RB5.

I've just come back from a 6 hour practice session at the track. It is AMAZING what a body will do for the car. The JConcepts Finisher gave me the steering I was looking for. I wish it fit the car a little better (had to get creative with the trimming) but I'll be running it for now on.

Anyone want to buy a Bulldog RB5 body for cheap?
