Thanks Aaron! I got nervous but settled back down knowing Derek wouldn't ruin me and if he did would stop so we could resume our battle.

Is there a guide regarding the different block configurations .
Thanx
Using the stock plastic blocks & 1mm plastic shim (J1, J5 & J7) will yield a 3 degree anti-squat.

Here is the "guide":

J5 and 54243 (upside down) 2.0*
J5 and J1 (no Shim) 2.5*
J5 and J1 (1mm Shim) 3.0*
J5 and J1 (2mm shims) 3.5*
etc etc

J1 can be replaced with 54243
J5 can be replaced with 54242, 54291 or 54292 (no shims needed as they have 1mm built in)

I want to point out something from the TRF site about an article that was written about using the 417 CVA capture rings as a modification for the 201.

In that article the author spells out going to the DB01 drive shafts. These are an older style shaft that have less operating angle but that not being as important as wanting to inform you that the cross pins for rebuild are different and thus of course a different part number. The pins and cross joint are larger than the WOA (wide operating angle) units that come stock with the 201.

I will be giving it a go with the stock shafts to see if we can find a bit more steering and thus also to see what the durability will be with the WOA set up.

Guys,
If you run BB springs on the std shocks what retainers do you use at the top and bottom? Std isn't big enough is it?

I now run the DB01 drive shaft as I broke a rear axle last month. Hope these are more durable !

DB01 axles are as durable but will bend instead of break. Then you have a hard time retrieving your bearings, spacers and shims.

Those are the stock ones for the TRF201. I broke the rear axle, so I now try the stock DB01 drive shft set.

Any one tried to make a middle motor conversion without using the Vega or atomic chassis? Trying to get some ideas how would be possible to move the motor forward and trying to keep tamiya parts as much as possible. Can it be done? What do u think guys? Stupid idea? Shoooooot!

Be carrefull, the Yeah Racing rear axle are crap !! Bend both on a little crash this afternoon. Replace them with the Tamiya DB01's ones and no problem.
No problem ether with the Yeah Racing drive shaft.

Axles breaking? Well Ive had my 501 rear axles for 5+ years and have not broke one. You guys must be beating on your 201 pretty bad to be breaking axles.
I probably wont ever break one, because I usually dont hit things.
Now I have broken a rear shock tower on my 501x because I hit the metal
stakes that are in place to hold up the pipe around the track.
Aluminum bulkhead took the impact and it stressed to the shock tower
cracking it in half. Its been replaced and have not broken one since.

Now Im hoping the 201 will last me just as long as the 501x has.
Boy im glad modified 2wd is making a big comeback here, after 6 months
of waiting the class is still alive and kicking here. Now all Tamiya needs
is a 201 Stadium Truck. Then I can run mod truck too!
