Jimmy,
I saw your website says "build to order". Do you happen to have any idea when you might be offering kits? Indoor season is fast approaching and my current ride is in need of a rebuild. So instead of rebuilding I thought about upgrading to the Track Star TS-201SC.

So, I ended up at OCRC Raceway in Huntington Beach this past weekend for the proline Surf City Classic to run some open 2wd mod and short bus.
I thought I was going to be the only one running the TRF201 but to my surprise Tamiya team driver Jake Thayer was also in attendance running open 2wd mod and open 4wd mod! Friday was practice day and with basically no changes to my current set up my car was pretty good! I was running super soft AKA Rebars all the way around and the car was really good. Towards the end of the day it was clear that the track was drying out even with the very light water schedule they were doing. In the end a few guys from the Invite 2wd class tried slicks and was deemed the way to go fast
So Saturday morning before qualifying it was time to pull out the Dremel and make slicks...being that I've never raced on slicks ever and having never made slicks utilizing the AKA rubber, I went with the known tire of Proline MC Suburbs and Scrubs for my slicks. Traction was ridiculous.
After a meager 1st round in 2wd, my 2nd round went much better and I was sitting 14th overall utilizing qual points. My third round however proved to be my undoing and I ran worse than my first round and after the points were added up I ended up 19th overall (3rd in the C main). At the start of my C main, the guy starting at point position didnt even make it 3 ft and turned right into the pipe ruining himself. I filed in behind the leader and we were gone. After a couple minutes we had a good size lead so I just went in to cruise mode and kept myself in the bump position to guarantee a spot in the B main. Jake Thayer hadnt been real happy with the setup of his 201 and ended up in the B main and was starting from the 2nd position. I would be starting from the 10th position with hope of moving up quickly at the start of the race. I did move up quickly, but quickly fell back trying to navigate through traffic and running into a turn marshal's foot My car was good and I actually ran my fastest lap of the weekend finally dropping into the 18 sec range, but just couldnt get it around the track while racing with others. I did manage to end up 6th when all was said and done and Jake was able to bump into the A with a solid 2nd place finish.
Jake struggled a little in the A and after starting 10th on the grid he did finish up with a 7th overall. Not bad weekend for the Tamiya cars all in all, and we learned a few things about set up (Jake and I had totally different setups on our 201's) for high bite tracks.
As I mentioned before, Jake was also running 4wd mod and he dominated the open class with his TRF502x! That thing was dialed! he took the overall TQ spot and ran away with the 7 minute A main! He won by over 10 seconds!
I'll post my set up for the 201 soon just to give an idea of how we had them set up. I know there are a few things I would like to have tried now that sit here and look at the car on my bench. Oh well, next time!
