Soldering

I am just now learning how to solder wires to engine and have Q's. Should solder be lead free or is 40% lead ok? What size tip do you need, i was planning on going small? What temp setting should you use for motor mounts? Are there dif types of flux? If so what kind should be used for traxxas slash? What is best way to remove wires from current motor, is it just yank and pull off?

Don't buy lead free, its harder to work with and needs higher temps than lead solder. The 60/40 rosin core is what you want to buy. There are diff kinds of flux - I'll let the marine explain that in the linked thread.

No - apply heat to the soldered connection and pull it off when you see solder melt. Otherwise, you'll damage the motor solder tabs.
