well ive been watching videos and im wondering if i should, so heres some q's i need answered
easy to break?
what is going to break right away?
2wd or 4wd?
anyone want to trade for a built losi mrc?:D:nod:

I would say look at the 2wd Slash or Blitz because they can do both reasonably well.
Slash is a better basher
Blitz is a better racer

I think the 4wd slash is also very competitive but check with your local track to see if they race 4wd short course trucks.

The Kyosho and SC10 are both race only trucks IMO.

Slash is pretty durable and won't break unless you go full speed into a curb or something like that. The things that could break are the rear bearing carriers, and possibly popping off the shock caps. Both are quick fixes and only cost a few $$$ to replace. 2wd is loads of fun, waterproof electronics, etc. and less $$$ than the 4wd; if both are Lipo powered they are equally as fast. Sounds like 2wd would be your best choice.

it might now be raced, i am into crawling and scalers, so i would be getting this for fun, to race around town and show off:sweat: wheres a cheap place to get a 6 cell nimh battery pack at? i only have one for my scaler...:smile:

Both are good trucks, i think you'll be happy with what ever you get.

Yes, get a slash. If you don't like it then sell it, chalk up the money lost to experience and continue the the life cycle of RC addiction ;)

Keep it stock until you can drive clean. I've seen kids put in a stupid fast motor just to crashed and burn. Having waterproof electronics is best for bashing.

Newbies particularly like the slash for the durability of it.:nod:

personally, I would buy the blitz or ofna if youre gonna race. I have a 4x4 slash. I've broken so many things its not even funny anymore.

Heres a few things that I can remember off the top of my head. Most of them have broken more than once.

rear hub carriers
front a-arms
rear a-arms (technically not broken but hingpin bolts will no longer tighten after two times of taking them out of the a-arms)
front and rear shock towers (shock mount bolts will no longer get tight)
front diff drive hub
axles
slipper clutch bushing (not sure what traxxas calls it)
bent shock shafts
numerous bearing failures
motor and speed control
body mounts (mostly rear) I know this is almost a given to break, but they seem to break on the smallest crash.
spur gear

I know a few of these items are fixable and wear and tear parts, but they seem to wear out way premature IMO.

another thing that sucks is that alot of places dont carry parts yet, or as soon as they come in they are sold out. I can only assume everyone else is having the same breakage as me.

I have about 7 buddies that have the blitz, all with brushless systems on lipos. I would say 4 out of 7 are VERY abusive drivers. The only part that I have seen them break is the dogbones and that was after about one straight month of HARD driving.

I have a 7 year old and 3 1/2 year old. I bought them both blitzs. I figure if my buddies cant break them theres no way my kids can

another thing, I've heard pep boys are carrying traxxas parts now. That kinda adds to the cheasyness factor........:lol:
