Questions?? TO BE- OR- NOT TO BE??????

I have recently rebuilt my Slash for the 2010 season, I bought a Proline Protech Suspension Kit and put Ofna 7 Bigbore 53mm shocks all the way around, plus the MIP00816 Ball diff and RPM aftermarket stuff for the Open class with a GTB Esc, A 5800ss Motor and A Hitech 645mg servo, and for the power im running a FlightPower EVO30 11.1v 30c 3s 4900 pack.
Now, the debate where im from, is:
Some people are saying the shocks arn't legal
I cant run a 3s pack

Please chime in on your thought with the fact that this is the OPEN Class!!
Also is there anyone running a similar set up, If so, what is it and please let me know what you think of it!!
Thanks!!!!

Here locally (northern Cali) open class is any hop ups, 2s battery, 10.5 brushless max. and no 1/8 scale tires.

In bismarck we have talked about a box stock class and a mod. In mod use anything thing you want. If there are not enough cars to make a short course mod class we will probably put in in with the mod trucks.
The rules at wwnh have not been made official yet.

JW: 7.4V (2S) LiPo is the norm in 1/10th scale racing, so I wouldn't expect any class to allow more. I think those shocks you put on are absolutely overkill and add a lot of unnecessary weight that will reduce your performance, but it doesn't make any sense that any track would rule those "illegal" for a modified class. If anything, they're a handicap.

KPitta: Hey, long time! Are you running SC these days? Still running out at Delta?

you should always confirm with the track first what would be considered allowed even in an open class.

I think not allowing the shocks is kind of weird personally, but the battery thing I can see as it seems it is common to limit it to 2S.

The funny thing is, im one of the Captns who built and started the offroad track in the beginning.. Plust there is talk about limiting the tires to only kit tires, no aftermarket..
Am I the onlyone who thinks, open means anything SC Based????

Default Gtb on 3s

I assume your using a Novak GTB which is limited to 2s

http://www.teamnovak.com/products/es...spec_chart.htm

Other than that I would think open means open. I can see limit on batt size(2s only) and I say no 1/8 scale tires else wise free game.

Around here the rules for 2wd mod are only sct tires and bodies.

I thought that was what spec was for? Spec=2c 7.4 lipo or 6c nimh battery pac stock tire(any choice) any stock servo, any stock speedo & motor. Now they just opened it up to any R.O.A.R. approved 17.5 brushless system

Mod is mod,2c 7.4 lipo or stick pack, any tire choice(no 1/8th scale) & whatever motor you can handle...10.5 is the limit at most major races around here.

If they did that tire rule here I would just run spec class, you need tires to put down the power in mod.

To my knowledge 2s is the highest even for open class. Open is more towards the motor used, meaning something that is not a 17.5 or 13.5.

any sct ...you mean any aftermarket right? That 2.2 /3.0 tire size I think, you know what I mean. And yes the wheels have to fit under any SCT body.

As someone mentioned, our GTB is rated for 2S only; in addition, make sure your old 5800 SS motor has a sintered rotor. The old bonded rotors will not stand up in racing applications.

yeah, any 2.2/3.0 tires, w/the limited traction there is no need for a motor or battery rule for mod

HAHA, there is a shocker. The only company to make an ESC that costs $150+ and can't even handle a 3S lipo!
And yes of course, don't have a motor that is more than a year old because it can't handle racing applications either!
