r/c 10 gold pan upgrade?
I have an old team associated r/c 10. I would like to go to a brushless motor and stronger gear box. could also use new shocks and miscellaneous parts.
Is this possible? thanks for any assistance |

The weak link in the original 32p 6 gear gear box was the idlers, I've never taken a set out, but some have.
TowerHobbies still lists the counter gears as in in stock. It will likely survive, but there is no slipper on that box. The 1st gen Stealth was a 2.4 ratio & the RC10ce was one of the few I know that had a aluminum tub & Stealth... It is a matter of drilling 4 holes & getting or drilling the tranny to bulkhead brace., but if you have a mint gold tub don't bother. |

Gold pan upgrade
I raced these cars back in the 80's try finding a graphite chassis also MIP made a diff for these which was way better than stock. Another thing you can do is hand file the idler gears and dif gear they will be much smoother and last longer as they were fairly burred up butas one of the previous post said that is the week point. Someone made a metal Idler gear but they never panned out. Good luck

Id sell the gold pan (people are usually looking for them) and buy a more modern car that parts are readily available for. Unless you are into vintage RC racing, but if you are looking to go BL, I doubt it.

in this race you have 2 rc10's 2 rc10b2's 3 rc10b4's the 2 rc10's placed 1st and 3rd. as for brushless the stock 2.25 stealth transmission will handle brushless power just as well as any modern buggy. but to make your life a bit easier i would suggest to also pick up the rpm 2.65 conversion for the trans. it's less than $20 from tower. the b4 transmission is a 2.60 gear ratio. so with the rpm transmission kit you will be able to use the same spur and pinion gear sizes that are used with the b4. |

fiberlyte is still in business. fiberlyte was the company that made the chassis that was sold under the com-com name.

Is this possible? thanks for any assistance There is a guy on rc10talk (member name Atlas) that sells carbon fiber shock towers for the RC10 that allow the use of B4 shocks. They are also available on eBay from the same person. He also carries the carbon tranny brace, aluminum arm mounts (f&r), aluminum arms (f&r), aluminum steering cranks and aluminum body posts. The only things on the car that you can't find readily are the chassis and the bulkhead. Everything else is in decent supply and available new. You can also run LiPo batteries in the RC10. If you take the front battery cup out and replace it with B44 battery posts and thumb screws and a B4 battery hold down it will work perfectly. The front caster blocks, steering knuckles and axles can also be replaced with B4 parts along with the rear hub carriers. This allows use of the B4 wheels. Ace hobby carries the B3 wheel under the Thunder Tiger laber, part number PD8982. When using the B4 rear carriers (mine uses Racers Edge .5) you must use the B44 CVD's. For the ones that say it's not competetive; there was one that finished 2nd at the indoor nationals in MO and when I ran mine 2 weeks ago, it was 1 second a lap slower than my B4 without any tuning. I was just shy of TQ with the B4 so it's not like it was laboring aroung the track. Hope this helps! |
