4s hits the sweet spot on most esc, But your motor KV will dictate what voltage your battery should be. Pinion tooth are from 13 to 18 depending on the track.

1 4s batt. and I think you're supposed to use mod 1 hardened steel pinions.

fourwheels0 02-26-2010 03:19 PM

ok.
i'll be using a maba monster esc and 2650kv motor.
for battery's i have 2s 20c 5000mah.
i may get a couple of 4s 25c or 30c 5000mah

Justpassedu 02-26-2010 05:13 PM

two 2s 5200mah lipo's , 19t novak hardened pinion , mmm and neu2650kv motor ....

Unless your running a Caster "saddle packs" 4s1p is a better option for the car because you only have to charge 1 pack not 2, 2x2s packs are 9 times out of 10 heavier than a 4s1p by alot too, and you have straight foreward wiring. And 4s1p is most of the time a smaller footprint.

I run 2 2cells And a Tekin 1900kv on my MP9 i have a 17tooth pinion installed. Works great.

GLwagon 02-26-2010 06:50 PM

Last Summer 2-2s = 4s...
This Summer will be 1-2s & 1-3s = 5s
1700kv motor
Pinions, Novak... tooth depends on track.

malik 02-26-2010 07:56 PM

Forget to say what i use 4s1p Tekin rx8 2050 19T pinion Ve8, also Caster Ex1 2x2s havnt decided on esc Speed passion V2 9.5 2160KV 15T pinion. The cars have really big differences in the internal ratios so asking what pinion guys are using is basically useless. Ask what top speed they are gearing for. Me between 36 and 40MPH. HB and Robinson pinions.

fourwheels0 02-27-2010 07:48 AM

actually asking what pinions guys are using is not useless to me.
it gives me an idea what guys are running on different buggys with different setups. at our track we have 3-4 guys that are thinking of building buggys so i can pass info on to them aswell as get info for mine.
i know the track will tell me what pinion is best for my buggy but i'm just trying to get as much info as i can to try and get a baseline starting point.
so far i've gotten alot of good info. keep it comin guys. thanks.
