Default novak gtb or tekin rs pro?

any advice on these two systems (combo's),not sure which to go with for my sc10 or blitz.it will be the 17.5,the tekin is about 80.00 more dollars(why)the novak said 17.5 but in the description (on amains page)it only talked about the 8.5,13.5 and another but it was not the 17.5. i looked at the box on the page(enlarged) and it said 17.5 dont get it.anyway give me your thoughts. THANKS

Tekin you can adjust alot. I dont believe the GTB you can. Plus Tekin CS is great and the size of the esc is seriously size of a quarter. Yes its tiny

The motor specs usually denote the lowest winding that the ESC can support. They can all support the 17.5T. I am looking at the exact same thing for my SC10. I have what I call a Factory Team SC10 and plan to race Stock SCT as much as possible. With the same set-up I can run the Open SCT with a 3S Lipo so I need an ESC with the capability to run 3S.

Today I have a Havoc 3S as well as a Havoc Sport for back-up. They both work pretty good so I really don't need much more exept the tunability of the higher cost ESCs. I was not considering the GTB since it doesn't really provide anything more than the Havoc for a 17.5T motor. The GTB can handle much more current which I don't need. If you plan to run an 8.5 or lower then the GTB would be "on the list".

What I am considering are the Castle Mamba Max Pro and the Tekin RS or RS Pro. They both offer timing advance vs. RPM and a Turbo feature. I have seen stock class vehicles using the Tekin get a significant advantage in the long straights by using timing advance. Both can run 3S and can run motors lower than 6.5T. I am leaning toward the Tekin RS due to the results that our local guys are having. The MMPro looks great but I like the programing set-up in the Tekin better. It's lighter too!

The Tekin RS will suffice for all motors above 5 turn. For 17.5 it would be a waste of money to get the Pro unless you plan to drop a 3.5 turn motor into your slash.

This...

I just went through this with my Blitz.... Ended up with the Tekin Rs simply because it was the same price as the GTB, but has upgradable firmware via the USB hook up.

Thats interesting. Well the tekin rs would be sufficient since it can handle up to 5.5 turn motors. Go with the tekin you will be more than happy I promise.

Tekin RS unless you are running low wind motors, then the RS Pro.
With the Tekin Hotwire you can make a 17.5 run like a 13.5

I went with the Tekin for a few reasons. The small foot print and the various software updates along with i have run a few trucks with the Tekin systems and they perform great.
I was considering the MM Pro but i have not seen or ran one and didnt know how well the cheat mode really performed.

not sure on mmpro but this ill tell you why I went to tekin and not mmpro. I was considering hard mmpro but nobody has them in stock really. I started looking around and talked to a lot of people on the tekin and all had great things to say.

I still had a novak ballistic motor and heard a rumor of it burning up with tekin. I asked the guy on here who is a novak man and he said they would be fine. I said ok but went one step further and called tekin. Tekin has been around a long time back when i was in it in early 2000 they were a big player than just like now.

Anyways I call and their cs is more than friendly and helpful. I talked to a guy by name of Ty and he said yes I have heard this problem and we are looking into it and in the same breath said Our esc works with lrp flawlessly and tekin motors but the novak's can not handle the turbo feature on our esc. He didnt deny that there was a problem but rather was trying to fix it unlike novak. Horror stories are out the butt from novak and how long it takes. I sent my ballistic back and order my tekin stuff. Now having it its amazing.Footprint was a big thing as the tekin is alot smaller. were talkin 10mm lenght, width and height if not more.

The hotwire software as I was playing with it yesterday is just stupid easy. If your not sure just hold you mouse over where it says turbo or turbo delay or timing or anything and it gives you a breif summary of what is does. And to top it off look how many pros are using tekin stuff

+1 for Tekin RS

I just go it a week ago in my T4 and love it man that thing is so crazy full of power. My combo is with ballistic 8.5T and so far no problem(TEMP BELOW 100f), I guess if u don't put any turbo on it, shouldn’t be a problem. And turbo is a good on 150 Ft straight anyways
