The Lunsford's kit uses a different size ball stud/cup and has 3.5mm turnbuckles, if you want to call that a con. I used their 3mm turnbuckles on my old buggy, just buying the lengths closest to the kit turnbuckles, with no issues.

They say to make it tight enough so that when you have two screw drivers in the gear slot, that you can barely spin them with your fingers.

Is that insane? Holding the two outdrives in my hands, I can't spin the diff.

I bought a used roller DEX in the past and it is nowhere near as tight. Looking for confirmation from anyone who has used this method.
Just to clarify. With drivers in the outdrive slots, you adjust the tightness so the gear doesn't spin under hand pressure, not so that you can't spin the outdrives.

That is my question ekt.

I can still (with resistance) spin the diff gear with handpressure, but I cant spin the outdrives with my hands.

I would say to check your thrust washers, the smaller of the 2 should be closest to the diff screw head.

I have a DEX210 that I bought used from these forums that came with some nice bling upgrades. I've gone through the buggy nose to tail and replaced shock oil, checked all bearings, gear diff serviced, etc. and it seems to run fine. Only issue I have is that it makes a squeal at times, mostly when in the air off jumps or sometimes making fast turns after a long straight into a sweeper. I've checked everything twice but can't find the source of the squeal. I've even replaced the slipper pads. Any ideas on what to look for?

You have the gear diff in it? I can take a look Wednesday if you're at the track, otherwise I can't think of what it could be. Had you cranked down the slipper to see if that solves it?

Usually a squeak or squeal is a bearing. Can you get it to do it on a car stand so you can narrow down where it's coming from?

Anyone try to use a captured kingpin on the rear outer like a 22? I broke a pin and have split 2 rear arms so far. Just think that a captured system wouldnt let the arm split.

So here is the broken V2 rear tower, i was considering the Revolution Designs aluminium tower as a replacement, or carbon fibre the decision will come down to whether i want the tower to bend or snap. Feed back would be appreciated, by the way the buggy is a V1 i only tried the V2 tower after breaking 2 V1 towers.

Had the same problem on my B4. Ran it until it was obvious. It turned out to be the front end bell bearing on my Vulcan. Changed the bell, silent.

I've been running the same CF tower for over 1.5 years now. I wouldn't think it matters much which one you get.

Had the exact same issue with mine, it ended up being the spur gear cover was broken at one of the screw points and occasionally rubbing on the pinion / spur gear!!

Get a lowered carbon rear tower, Diggity Designs makes a -4mm in the v1 style. The v2 is lower then the v1 but with different shock locations. Put 1mm spacers on the back of a carbor tower to space it away from the transmission case.

Remember you will need the correct rear shock shafts for it, 52mm, the stockers in a v1 are too long. too long even for a v1 tower.

If you run either a dimec or v2 chassis you most likely will need some limiting in the rear shocks or the long outdrives. the newer chassis have a bevel that allows more droop and you probably will throw the bones from the outdrives if you don't do one or the other. I learned this the hard way.

The squeal could be from the tire rubbing the wing.
