Durango DEX210 Thread
Thumbs up for hoybbwing esc but dont buy it as a combo get a motor with adjustable timing
I just want to make sure that my dex210 in mm4 will be competitive. So I have the opportunity to spend the money once. Im all for getting out cheaper than a tekin system. I just want to make sure I'm getting the absolute most bang for the buck. Are these hobbywing systems just as tuneable as a tekin?

Carpet is probably the best place MM4. I'm still a sportsman racer but I feel like it handles really well in the corners. I really like it
For carpet MM3 would be perfect. No need for MM4 there.
Okay ive narrowed it down to either tekin or trakpower. If you had to choose which would it be? By the time I buy pro hobbywing esc and motor, I'm already at the price of a tekin. The tekin allows you to adjust the voltage of the bec to 7.4. Where as the trakpower is only 6.0 volts.

That's backwards. 4 gear shifts more weight and will wheelie before a 3 gear. If you are pulling wheelies in MM3 then you are doing back flips in MM4. If you need MM4 on any carpet track, you really need to learn some fundamentals of tuning.

Not bashing HW but I have seen so many posts with people that can't even figure out how to get their firmware to update. Some buddies of mine have had good luck and others have had their HW fry within a couple packs use.
You can find stories about both going up in smoke within a day, most is user error, some are just a faulty product... not saying that hasn't happened to Tekin or any other ESC for that matter.
I haven't been on that side of it with Tekin though, I won't buy any other ESC.

In 4 gear yes the rotation is the same as the motor. But the 4th gear softens up the throttle under power over the 3 gear. I don't just read I have 100's of hours on carpet with the lap counter going.
With 3 gear when you let off throttle the car will not carry speed as well as the 4 gear. This makes it harder to carry speed on high bite carpet.

You should send Jorn Neumann an email
Out of around 50 setup sheets at Petitrc on carpet only one is mm3, the rest are mm4

Since I disagree with almost every setup sheet out there (the absolute worst are from the big AE drivers for the B44!), I'm not sure what that would accomplish. Why would he take the time to learn from me?
It's not always a technical matter, sometimes it comes down to feel. You can know all the physics and ”setup fundamentals” but if a driver feels more comfortable and turns faster laps with an inferior setup them who's wrong or right becomes a matter of preference

For every driver that's on a track there is some "expert" on the sidelines saying he is doing it wrong. This extends to every area of life
