So it is possible to create more pack for the hard landings, without changing how the damping feels elsewhere on the track. You increase pack by decreasing the hole sizes in your piston, and running a lighter oil to compensate.

So for example, if you are running 4 hole 1.3 in the back with 27 weight oil, switch to a 4 hole 1.2 and run 25 or 22 instead. The overall slow pulse damping will be about the same, but pack will be higher, helping the car land.

If you go to a larger hole, the bottoming out issue (even if you go with a thicker oil) will only get worse.
We're on the same page, I think. The 4x1.2 was too much pack in the mod buggy, the 6x1.2 is not enough. I rarely get dedicated test days with Cush, so I usually setup a few different things to try and work on in the few hours we have before racing starts, but if he doesn't like the changes we just revert to his base setup with 6 hole pistons all around. He's usually fast enough with it to make the A and run up front, but once we find the balance between too much and not enough pack I think the car will be even easier for him to drive fast with confidence. Hence, I pondered making some 5 hole pistons and inquired about Raul's experience with 3 and 4 hole pistons with larger holes. I would expect a 4 hole piston, even with holes as large as Raul mentioned to have more pack than the 6 hole 1.2 pistons. Simple math says there is less area for the oil to travel through.

It will have slightly more pack with the 4 hole, but not because of the area for the oil to travel through, but because you will run lighter oil with 4 holes than 6 to keep the same static damping... and lighter oil tends to pack more easily than thinker oil.

I think what you are looking for, is something like a 6 hole 1.1, with very light oil... maybe 20 or 25 (not sure.. just tossing it out of my head, i would subtract between 2.5 and 5 from what you are running now, with the 6 hole 1.2). That will give you the same static damping as the 6 hole 1.2, but more pack.

I didn't like the 5 hole pistons and went back to 1.2 4 hole......just seems more balanced. I run on high to med clay with losi 25/20

Thats where i'm at right now as well. I like it however, I think my new weight plate replacement for the plastic TD piece will make the car more balanced.

I just tried to put the mamba max pro in the buggy and it did not fit. I had the esc and was trying to use it while I sent my RS in for service, but now I will just have to wait

Awesome, I went ahead and ordered it while I was picking up tires and parts.

Ahh, bummer. I had one laying around so I figured I would use it in the 210. Guess not lol.

sure it will.. just take the fan off. You won't need it in the 210.

then you would have to destroy the whole case of the speedo.
MMP has the fan integrated in the casing

my opinion :
an MMP is nice for bashing but not for a race buggy
