this one is +10, chassis will be able to run mid or rear motor, saddle and shory centro style in mid, and a shorty or full size normaly in rear build

23/81 sounds good for a starting point with a Speed Passion MMM 9.5T? Not sure what size track yet because it's up in the air which one I'll be racing at in the coming weeks...

Funny, I built my chassis to get a better battery layout in mid as well. Only mine is +8mm and g10/fr4, but still close enough. Yours also looks a little nicer. I'm guessing you have some machines at your disposal. Mine was all freehand with a dremel!

Over summer when I don't race as much I plan on updating it with 2mm CF. I like light cars

Nick,

I really have no idea. I did however use the gearing guide located at "Durango fansite" (just google it). And I plan on buying pinions in and around the gearing it recommended.

To piggyback Nick's question in-case anyone has experience on this:

The roller I bought came with 78t spur gears and I have a Viper 8.5T motor on a high speed long track with several banked corners (26second laps). The gearing guide recommends 22T.

I for some reason though I ran my lrp x12 8.5 at 26/78 and it never got hot in blinky. I just got a viper 8.5 (never buying a lrp motor again, it self destructed during warm up before lining up my best start at the newest surface at the local track) so am I going nuts and should be running the stock spur? 22 will not fit with the 78, 26 is the smallest

I really need to get around to trimming out the combos that wont fit on that chart
The guide is really only to give starting point for gearing. Different motors, track conditions/size will change the ideal gear ratio.

Wow great tip thanks. I'll change that before I complete my order.

Is there a listing somewhere of what pinions work with specific spurs to actually fit? I will be having the identical issue with the truck as well and would love to get the right gearing for both.

22,23 is the ticket w/ most 8.5 motors. I run a viper as well, love their motors, not a fan of their esc's but great quality motors. Yes go to the larger stock spur.

Now I have finally managed to find some time to work on the car lol.
I switched the main gear on the gear diff and rebuilt everything by the manual. The problem still exists, when i have the gearbox in my hand slowly rotating the spur gear then about 2/3 of the turn is still rotating hard. The only thing I can still think of is that the brand new gearbox is kinda tight. It isn't any of the reasons above then...
When I have it open and rotate the gears by hand I don't see any additional drag or rubbing and everything is smooth.
Also after the diff rebuild, when rotating one side of the diff it's all quiet, when rotating the other side it makes a cliking noise. Fuck, as they say, you shouldn't touch a working thing.
All help is appreciated.
