What does it share with the DEX410? Possible to see a shot of the diff or gearbox internals?

Hey Team Durango,

A few questions.

1) is the US your largest customer?
2) What are the patents for the dex210? Is it the dual stage motor? If so, will there be a lawsuit against losi? jus asking...

I have to agree with that. It seems that 1/10 buggy 2wd and 4wd are still backseat to short course at the moment. Plus with AE's huge distribution network in place already the 'rango is still a unique beast at most tracks. Most racers still want local parts support where we durango drivers end up carrying a hobby shop worth of parts with us to the track every race day, lol.

it would depend on when the patent is filed but highly doubtful in government language that stuff would be considered "prior art"

plus...you would have to prove a lot of facts that they most likely couldn't

It has to do with the layout of the gearbox.

3 or 4 gear configuration in both rear and mid layouts – with the same gearbox*

Losi uses two different gear cases. Durango is using one case. Just protecting themselves from someone coping their layout. So all other R/C companies will have to develop cars with the 2 gear case configuration in future. Basically you cant patent a single 3 or 4 gear case, its to common. Durango can patent the DEX210 gear case cause of the layout and a first in R/C.

This is similar to Losi patent the Hydra-drive.

I heard that at durango they invested over a million bucks in the development of this car. so yeah they can have that patent. and maybe earn some money back that way.

$1m or free, has no bearing on whether or not a patent is awarded.

It is highly unlikely that $1m has ever gone into the development of any RC car product.
