Didn't need to see the picture, you likely had a cell vent. This is a safety feature of NiMH cells to keep them from blowing up. I would say with common knowledge of situations like this the most likely cause would be human error..

You can't run a NiMH pack over and over again. The pack needs to cool between charges and should be used at a maximum only 3x's a day. A little research to prevent this from happening to you again...

Its a long boring read but you'll be well educated at the end.

Who knows how old the cells were. Consider going to www.promatchracing.com and getting a setup of the 5000 or 4600 NiMH cells in stick-pack format. Much fresher cells and can take pretty good abuse.

What kind of car is it and how "hot" were the packs after use? If you went right from running/charging/running again, you do want to rest the pack after usage.

If you want to step into LiPO - you don't have to have the rest-stage of usage and you can charge/run/charge/run, but you have to take good care of them or they can vent "much more spectacularly".

Wow you guys are on it That is the reason that I signed up here!!!

Thank you very much for the good info!

I did not want to run around the back yard by my self so everyone got SC10s
For Christmas I have decided to try the charger again W/new packs.

We will be switching to lipo! $$

Any recommendations for battery for SC10s and a good charger?
(we just want to have fun not blowup or anything)
