Default 1/8 off road buggy help

I was looking for help on 1/8 scale buggy for racing. Due to my budget I will be buying a buggy off eBay and was looking for opinions on buggy made by ofna, kyosho or mugen. Which is the most reliable (least expensive to run over a season) what type of upgrades are required to be competitive. Also any help you could give on engine selection would be great. I have never run gas before so any words of wisdom you have will help. Thanks

IMO, the Ofna Hyper7, or Hyper PBS RTR are good buys. both offer good reliability and lots of upgradeability and come with a great engine for racing.

This said, the most common cars at my track by far are the Kyosho mp7.5 and, to a lesser extent, the Mugen mbx-5. These cars are purebred racers and the cost reflects this, but if you take care of your car and maintain it well any car you chose should be relatively similar in price racing over a season.

good luck choosing your car.

I also would go Kyosho, I ran my kanai 2 all last year and didnt break a part, Just had to do general maintanice, But the mbx5 is also a wise choice. Defiently if you are looking for cheaper get the hyper 7 pbs pcr

The O.S VZ-B is a great engine with a very smooth powerband making it fairly easy to drive, rather than an engine that is like an on/off switch when it comes to power delivery. It is also has very good fuel economy.
