Default hyper 9e

hi there, can anyone tell me what the best motor is for a hyper 9e running on a 4s 14.8v 5000mah battery,i have been told that the mamba monster 2200kv motor would be better than a 2650kv motor, could anyone advise me,thanks.

It really depends on what you are doing. Are you racing? If so how long is the track? I have both and prefer the 2200 for more torque, but the 2650 will give you more speed with that battery.

cheers hoodala,i will be racing and bashing,i think i will go for the 2200kv as long as it will fit as i am cutting out the esc plate so it sits on the chassis,as the 2200 is slightly longer than the 2650.do you have a hyper 9e if so what setup and pinion do you use?thanks jon

Hi Jon, No I have an RC8e and an SC8e. The RC8e has a 46 spur and 18 pinion with a Tekin RX8 and 2050 motor. The SC8e has 46/15 with MMM 2200. The 2650 isn't being used at the moment. I don't know anything about the Hyper 9e but i am sure someone on here will help you with it.

for smaller and medium tracks, Castle 1800

for medium and larger tracks, Castle 2200

If you're a newer driver, 1800.

Dont bother with the 2200. It makes so much torque the throttle profile is completely undriveable with the buggy. I tried absolutely everything to smooth the throttle profile. On the speedo, on the radio, gearing, cell number, everything and the car is just a light switch. I highly recommend the 2650, I switched just last night to it and it was just as powerful up top but actually had a good throttle curve. If you run indoors you can run 3s and outdoors run it on 4s and no one will yard you anywhere and it's extremely driveable. However if you want to go the 2200 route I have one with 10 runs that needs to be taken off my hands.

Yes it will fit in a hyper 9e btw you must cut the chassis plate and have the speedo hug the servo mount to fit. It is a tight squeeze but yes it fits. I geared it with a 20 tooth pinion on 3S with the stock spur

If you plan on only running 4s and below then id go with the 2650kv motor. Anything above that like 5s or 6s then the 2200kv should be good. From what i believe the 2650kv can only be run at a maximum of 4s. It will have more top end on 4s then the 2200kv on 4s and a little less torque from my understanding...

If you run the 2200kv I would just expo the throttle on the radio. I'm running a -50 expo, it makes the car really smooth but takes some getting used to it. This way you get a longer trigger pull to get the same result out of the motor yet when you punch it it still all there 100% power! Try it!

is there a big difference in torque and top end speed between the mamba 2200kv and the 2650kv.

Big difference in torque. The top end is very similar but the way the power comes on with the 2200 is quite a handful. This is coming from a guy that runs 2 wheel mod. You will be much happier in your buggy with the 2650.

I have run the Hyper 9E on 2200Kv on 4S and in my opinion at least, its a bit much unless you are on a big track. I think though based on how torquey the motor is, on 3S I could see it be ran and working out.

I personally think you need to be in 1800Kv - 2050Kv range of motors on 4S, which is why I run the Tekin 1900Kv motor.
