Velineon VXL - 3m Brushless Power System

OK, im thinking of asking for a Velineon VXL - 3m Brushless Power System for christmas. But will it ruin my traxxas 6 cell battery? or my 8 cell battery from cheapbatterypacks.com? Would i need to change my gears? or anything else so it dosent get ruined?

forest_parker 12-06-2009 09:53 AM

will i strip gears?

B4power 12-06-2009 10:13 AM

First of all, for wich car is it for? I don't see why the vxl system would ruin your battery packs. The traxxas ones are made for that(any other battery pack can handle brushless as well). If you have a good gear mesh and you go easy on the throttle(no slams) You shuold be fine.

for my rustler, and i asked about batterys because i read somewere that if u have bad battery packs brushless will ruin it in no time

B4power 12-06-2009 10:24 AM

Well don't ask for the vxl-3m, that's for 1/16 cars. You need the vxl-3s. I've been running it with nimh for 3 months already and they are fine. If your battery packs are fairly new, you should be fine.

forest_parker 12-06-2009 10:26 AM

woops wrong one
but yea i will
u ever break anything?

B4power 12-06-2009 10:27 AM

If I've ever broke anything on the motor or esc? No I did not. Runs fine. You'll like it.:tire::nod:

+1 you'll be fine but you would be happier with a 2s lipo longer run times more power.

Oh yeah, with a 2s or 3s lipo your rustler will have really long run times. You will be melting it's tires and you will have difficulties controlling the car. But for now get use to driving the car with the vxl system. Then when you have an extra 200$ in your wallet:D get the duratrax ice and an Smc lipo.

forest_parker 12-06-2009 10:38 AM

well im going for drivers ed and buying a truck, so i dont think il have 200 bucks spare, but if i do, ill buy lipo stuff

forest_parker 12-06-2009 11:03 AM

hm, well i was looking and the cheapest set is 150 is there anywere cheaper?

bowl806 12-06-2009 11:10 AM

I think that's about what they cost (VXL) I seen Castle Sidewinder 4600 for about $119 at tower. Just as B4power says, 3s will be insane power! I know since I have that in my Slashes and Pede (5250 3s).

forest_parker 12-06-2009 11:12 AM

so is there a cheaper brushless motor? that works good?

forest_parker 12-06-2009 11:15 AM

the sidewinder looks good. is it water proof?

bowl806 12-06-2009 11:19 AM

from personal experience I can say that both Castle and Traxxas have done good by me. No waterproof w/Castle.
