A note to any XB8 owners, when biulding the shocks, pay close attention to the small washer that goes UNDER the shock piston. I thought i'd be smart and put it above the piston thinking it would keep the shaft and nut from pulling thru the piston, but the piston was able to wobble and wear out in the center causing some strange damping.......New pistons and a set of washers later the shocks are buttery once again!...., Jim

speedy2, i'm still enjoying it, i've solved my only issue, which was my own fault. I do wish X ray would have some machined pistons so I didn't need Mugen pistons in my shocks. Since they have addressed every other issue that came up since it's release, i'm sure it won't be too long.

The car handles great and feels quite a bit like a cross between my 7.5 and MBX5, maybe that was their intention?..............., Jim

Default Pivot Ball

Anyone know of an competitive option for the pivot ball on the front upper arm ball joint for the XB8R. My hobby shop is out. I think I recall a posting on this somewhere but can't find it.

Cheers

I really like the Xray. I have had zero problems and love the adjustability of the car. I have a good set up right now and the car is like it is on rails. I like it a lot...

Ranlod, i'm not sure of anything else that would work. I would bring the part to the shop and check out other brands for possible solutions. Or try another shop for the exact X ray part........Jim

Thinking of installing a Novarossi engine in a XB8R. What model of engine would you recommend I put in it?

Is there a standard for a class in buggy racing?

Thanks

I have a S5 in my XB8, you can always swap out the piston/sleeve for the S7 piston/sleeve for around 90 bucks when you wear the originals out.

Reason why I was asking about Novarossi is because I have access to a free .21 and was wondering wich model I should get.

Also is turbo a good idea or a pain in the &&#@($&* on the tuning side of thinhgs?

Hey Canuck

You can't argue with free. If that doesn't work go RB.

As far as the Turbo, some manufactures say no no for offroad.

Canuck, a turbo will work fine, if it has a good carb. The only difference is the plugs cost more money, since they are precision machined to seat in a taper in the head button, rather then using a bronze washer to seal them.

A turbo plug equipped engine actually doesn't make more power because of the plug, other then the fact it sits nice and flush inside the combustion chamber. they make more power because of more aggressive porting that is usually done in a turbo plug equipped engine.

I like the P5X I have in my XB8, it was modded by Maxy of Maxys fuels......, Jim
