what is the servo of choice

im looking for a good airtronics servo.. and not a 360 either..

What kind of R/C (1/8th, 1/10th etc & Buggy, TC, etc)

If you want to stick with airtronics, then check out this Servo Spec sheeet, it lists "recommended" servo's depending on application.
http://www.airtronics.net/specs/atxservospecs.pdf

I've personally always used Hi-Tec servo but for no particular reason.
But for my RC8B i did go with a XP DS1015, because i got a good deal on it. And i love it (Super fast and awesome torque)

Why limit yourself to airtronics? HAve you looked at the orion servo's? 1007 is a great servo for a buggy.

yeah, why only airtronics? Sure they are great servos, but I dumped them after having 2 of the coreless motors fail (one set of windings fried and the servo would only get stuck at that spot).

I run the Futaba bls451 in every single RC I have...B4, T4, B44, sc10, and RC8e. Golden if you ask me...

airtronics 94773m

The best current Airtronics servo for a 2wd would be the 94772M.

None of those have very impressive specs.

I ran airtronics servo's for years. Had really good luck with them but they never really seemed to perform up to there listed specs. I have run Futaba and Orion servo's lately that have similar or slower speed ratings that are WAY faster then the old airtronics servo's I used to use.

Spektrum will have some servo's out soon with some incredible numbers that are really priced right. If they are based off JR history they should be really good servo's as well.

Get a Orion Vortex servo.

wild gopher 10-28-2009 05:51 PM

orion 1007 all the way

GSRswapandslow 10-28-2009 07:33 PM

the single most popular servo that i've ever seen (locally obviously) is the Ace1015....never seen one fail and the specs are PERFECT for a 1/10th scale

in my buggy, though, i ran a futaba 7985 with great success and in my sc10 i ran a 9351

I bought an Align servo and it is awesome. It may be for a heli but its got the metal gears and was a tiny bit faster then the xp. I only paid like 55 bucks also

Blue heatsinked too. Did I mention it was fast? :D
