What gearing on 8e-2 with mmm/2650?
I am running a 16t pinion on a 2650/mmm combo with a stock 8e-2 and I am having temperature issues. I am seeing temps around 160. What gearing should I be running on a tight track with minimal straight stretches that will help keep my temps down?

160 is not bad but if its a small track drop a tooth in the pinion!
I run 14/45 with a 2050 on 4's |
you should be running a 12-13 with that motor

Try a 13T. If its a really tight track, 12T. I'm running a 14T, temps are usually 160F after 15 minutes but I'm not hard on the gas and light on brakes. 13T should allow you to run more aggressive and a bit cooler.

16T too high :P... Put the 15 back in or buy a 12/13 pinion. I'm running the 15T with a 2200kv mamba monster combo and my temps are around 120 for about 10 minutes of speed runs. I'm taking it to the track tomorrow so I'll let you know how the 15T does. |
Thank you. I will put the 15t on for tomorrows practice run and order a 12, 13, and 14 to have for next weekend.
Does anyone have any suggestion on a way to keep the spektrum telemetry temp sensor on the motor? Tape doesn't seem to work too well. Would a zip tie work? |
The battery - it's a 4S? Yeah, 12T or so would be ok. 11T may be fine too. 14T may even be too tall unless it has room to spin (larger 1/8 scale tracks). I use 13T with a 3S1P and 2650kv.

Novak sells a 3 pack of pinions for lik $22 which is a deal considering a single one is usually $11 or so.
