I'm mainly gong to be using the truck on a small indoor course but will hit some larger outdoor in the summer hopefully. My slash has the Team RCE lcg chassis also...
I run 54/14 with this combo and I have it turned down to 60%..and it's ridiculously faaaaaaast..nothing and I mean nothing is faster than this slash down the straight..this includes 1/8 scale electric buggies..what most forget is how efficient the Slash's drivetrain really is..I run an SSC LCG so it's similar to the RCE (I did own one)..if you run this combo at 100% it will be uncontrollable, after you run it at 100% you'll be laughing for sure..I know I was....it has to be one of the most fun RC cars I've driven..it just pops off of jumps..it clears jumps my SCTE struggles on..and I have the same combo in it..on the smaller track I might go to a 13 but so far the 14 seems to be pretty good, I go by the temps on my gearing, it you get the gearing "right" the motor & speed controller should be close to the same temps..
Speed controller hotter than the motor: go to a bigger pinion
Motor hotter than the speed controller: go to a smaller pinion
My temps in the SSC Slash is around 120 for both, my temps for the same combo in my SCTE is 135+ for both..

I'm working on a slash 4x4 for a friend and he put a mamba monster in it... stupid i know. It breaks drive shafts because he tries to run it on 4s. Could any one direct me to a parts guide or list on this thread so i can tell him what he needs? thanks

it would make sense that extended arms will be an issue as they are made for a standard arm slash. i have never had an issue with them and i womp the hell out of my trucks.

I apologize if this has been asked before, but has anyone installed Losi big bore springs on the Traxxas "big bore" shocks? Thanks!

First off..Why? The Losi big bores are 12mm..the springs don't fit the bottom very well..use the traxxas springs on the big bores, or better yet just get the Losi SCTE shocks..

Thanks for the reply.

Do you run the SCTE shocks on a Slash 4x4? Does it bolt right up?

Yes..they bolt right up, get the pistons & spring kit and they work great..they are not to much money either..eBay they are $28 for the rears and $26 for the fronts..money well spent..

Hey guys,
My SSC LCG build is moving along, slowly. But my pile of used parts is piling up. I had to take a break because I temorarily lost one of those little steering post bearings to the floor gods. 4 hrs later, found it in plain site(the floor gods gave it back!)I will be centering the steering now. Do this before securing the top plate : ) Good thing I'm not using red locktite!

On the matter of shocks, I am running ProLine Power strokes, I have had a leaking issue with one of the rears from day one. Ive replace the orings twice but still leaks. I may go the either big bores rears all around or Losi rears all around. I'll try on more rebuild and check for any imperfectiions on the shaft and the body.

But back to the build...
