Default SC10 RTR

We've seen a couple come to our local track and they have both had esc problems. Both drivers run lipos, and are experienced with running them in other trucks. Anyone else seeing this problem?

Mine worked flawlessly this weekend. Very easy to setup the speedo to my radio. I geared up 1 tooth from stock and ran it the rest of the day on 2S lipo and it worked great.

We had a few of them running but not sure if they all had stock speedos in.

As cheap as these SCT trucks are I can see having some electrical problems just because of how cheap the electronics are in them.

Regardless of what brands you buy the rtr electronics are not that good.

Plus alot of guys run motors that are too much for the speedo to handle. I'm seeing this alot and especially with the new SCT class.

Like mentioned these are RTR trucks with cheap electronics. If you want to run hot motors then you will need to upgrade the speedo.

Never had a lick of trouble with my XL-5. Also never had an issue with my SC10 esc either though. But that is really not a true statement. I have three XL-5 escs and all have been awesome.

Go to a 10.5 & you shouldnt have no more problems...
But seriously I have seen 4 rtr SC10 speedos take a crap while racing...they just stopped. They bought a XL5 & no more problems. The stock Speedo from the Sc10 is crap, its hit & miss. I cant say that they are burning it up since we all run in the stock class

thats because his has a 17 turn brushed motor, which is close to a mod motor if it isn't. The 17.5 will be better for the long run, and most tracks have a 17.5 BL/ 27t brushed motor rule for stock sc

I raced mine this weekend for the first time and a buddy raced his RTR for the first time also. Zero issues with stock electronics. Our motors are hardwired and I switched them from the stock Tamiya connectors to Dean's. I'd heard a lot about motors running hot, but didn't have that problem, even in a 7 minute main. The stock motor and batter connectors add a lot of resistance, should be changed IMO, esp if you're going to run LiPo or 7 cell.

LOL, my Reedy ran about 5 or 6 times before it MELTED the area around the bushings... even though I oiled it regularly.

I agree that rtr electronics are not very good, but I've rented two slashes this year at our track on top of that we raced them at other tracks as well with 0 problems. The sc 10 drivers ran the setups stock with 2s lipos. I'm looking at the rtr for indoors this year and was wondering if anyone else was experiencing any issues.

The original RTR SC10's had a 20T pinion, which was over geared for the motor. You're not the only one LOL.

Yeah, I really wasn't concerned with it. It was just fun to go straight from the box onto the track and play for a bit. I soon installed my brushless system, DSM, etc... Now it's raced every chance I get:

my stock system ran hot from the first day (t4, same system) 5 min qualies ran 200* and 8 min main was 235*. now I put that system in my sons slash and only get 50 ft of radio reception. tried everything, tx, rx, motor, xl-5, new rx wire
I don't plan on buying any stock ae systems again. have had 3 xl-5's and only one burn out (was the yellow one in the snow, rookie move)
