No they dont...most often it is the speed control that has the thermal overload protection.

That's not why he asked. Havoc esc's require it, this is why it's hard to find a motor to work with the Havoc other than Novak motors.

Our Havoc 1S, Havoc 2S, and Havoc 3S controllers have the motor over-heating circuitry enabled.

But, our new Havoc Pro esc does not have the "blue wire" software. So it is compatible with all 540 size, sensored motors down to 3.5 turns.
