Default got support?

Call Castle Creations support line.

Also, you can download the manual from their website.

Have you checked all the connections from your ESC to motor? Are they on the correct terminals? Have you checked for poor solder joints?

If you wires are getting hot then there is a problem with the speed control.

If it won't calibrate try hooking up the castle link and downloading the latest beta software. Does the motor stutter really bad or just shut off completely? I had my motor wires wrapped up and zip tied to the rear shock tower in my Slash and it had similar issues to what you are describing but turned out one of the wires going from the motor to ESC came unplugged.
