I've only used a Novak 10.5(4300) and have it geared it 23or22/86.

I'd gear up a few teeth and see what happens.

I had that motor in a slash and it's TOO much. I had to gear it 13/90 to get it cool. I still had to work on throttle input. When you constantly stab the throttle on this motor it's gonna run warm.

I'd say go with the Traxxas VXL motor or the 4600 Mamba. The Slash should love the torque and the temps should be managable.

The vxl motor with the mamba esc is a killer combo. It is tunable and reliable.

I run a 10.5 system and could handle a little more power, my buddy runs a Castle 4600kv and that's pushing the driveability limits with a stock tire, another buddy is running a 5700kv and it's totaly useless on our track which is nice and loomy to help the slash tire get grip.

More on topic it's a 7700kv, it's gonna get hot, I'm suprised you got almost 10min. out of it. My buddy has a 66 Nova with 700+ horespower, it's a blast to cruise across town but it doesn't like long trips either.

I'm not bashing on anybody but there is always a compromise..speed=heat=less runtime....
