Mamba Max esc motor combo ?

I have been using the mamba max esc with the castle creations 4600KV motor -- running both 2s and 3s batteries. Well it burnt up (motor that is) so I need to replace it. My question is what other motors could i use that are comparable to the old one and can that motor handle the 3s pack? I am lookin to get a used one but I am not finding many CC4600 for sale. Trying ot keep this around $50.

Thanks for any advise. btw I just bash in the dirt and grass, no racing.

You can use a Castle 5700kv motor on 3S, but you should figure out why you toasted the 4600 first. If you are overgeared or there is lots of resistance in the drivetrain the same thing will happen. Also, I don't think using either of those on 3S for extended runs is a good idea unless you are really conservative with the gearing.

It was pretty hot here over 100 Degrees and I ran it pretty hard in a grass field...I think I just over ran it and over geared alittle. I was looking to see what other brand of motors are compataible with the mamba max or should I just stick with their motors.

Thanks -- Aggieboy

What are you running it in? If its a bigger heavy truck ie. slash i would go with the vxl. I am running a 5700kv and it gets pretty hot out in the sand, dunes. But i usually run 15 minutes then let it cool down.

you called it -- I am running a slash with LIpos that let me run well over 20 mins and I pushed to hard and hot. so the VXL motor will run fine with the MM esc? and I am not sure what gear I had on there but what would you recommend (also not I am running 1/8 buggy tires)

Most guys are praising the MM/VXL combo. I bought mine as a combo. I get alots 20-25 mins if i run mine but tend to let it cool off. The vxl is more forgiving gearing wise so you can run a bigger pinion and still have good temps and run 3s.

i think that a vxl is your best bet

Whatever you choose, you need to monitor your temperatures better or it will happen again. Buy yourself a temp gun as well. Just to protect your investment!

VXL - The Velineon motor on the Castle Mamba max ESC?

You will need to find a gearing that will work for both applications, the 2s and the 3s. Unless you want to change the gearing when you switch back and for between 2s and 3s. When using the 3s you will most likely need smaller pinion and/or larger spur. You should be able to find a combination that is acceptable for both 2s and 3s. In my Slash I run 2s only and run a mm/7700, gearing 86/19. Just keep an eye on the temp and test until you find the combo you are looking for.

i did the same thing in my slash. was running mamba max 5700 geared alittle too tall and it got very hot. Bought a vxl and ran it with the mamba. it was the perfect combo

running a truck through the grass really heats it up id stay off the grass.

castle has a good warranty you can send it in and the worst case is you pay $45 best case they just replace it:)
