Yeah... I'm afraid you won't find what you're looking for in a new system. But you might be able to find a used one in that range. Check Ebay.

1/8 on the cheap - isn't possible. You can still get your "speed thrill" with other 1/10 scale cars far cheaper than 1/8. Used Mamba Max setups in 1/10 4wd can really rip up the road with the right lipo and motor.

David - really, look at the situation. You're trying to get into an aspect of the hobby which is probably the highest price entry point - electric 1/8.

I know of hopped up 1/18 scale XRay M18 cars that are incredibly fast. You can hop-up a 1/10 4wd either road or off-road buggy for cheaper than trying to build a 1/8 that will last.

What is your budget if one part fails. Such as an ESC fails? What about catestrophic failure (you rip off an A-arm, bulkhead and bend the chassis). Is that in the budget too (ie. are you ready for a big ticket crash)?
Ok i am not on to much of a budget here guys, ok then how about $80 and below, does anybody have anything used or something, i have money to buy parts and what not, but i just dont want to spend alot of money just getting an electric together, its not like i dont even really race. i just like speed and bashing.

Best bet is a 4S-capable ESC - such as used Mamba Max + BEC. THen, a higher KV motor to go with the 4S rather than a 5S battery. The Castle 2650KV and 4S is very fast. Medusa is going out of business and have lower-priced motors (of what's left). You could get whatever is still left at a fair price. Also, those Hobby City KD36-74 motors (The '9XL or '5XL) would work for bashing - but not more than a few minutes. Low price, could be fast but they get hot fast too.

That'll depend on gearing, but you should see in the range of 30-35 mph or more.

It is called the Fusion EP
http://www.casterracing.com/en/produ...d=1&type_id=48

There is no way I would put one of those Hobby King's in my expensive ride. It even looks dangerous

Here is a link to Castle for the $100 refurb Monster Mambas.

http://www.castlecreations.com/produ...r_refurbs.html

This is the cheapest ESC you will find that is up to the task of running 1/8th scale.

You will not need 5S with a 2350 motor. 4S will be more than fast enough. Keep a close eye on motor temps, or you will burn up that cheap motor.

Seriously did you have to add the "cheap" part?

$100 bucks for a refurbashed esc with 60 day warrenty is a gamble. Just pay the extra money and get the piece of mind of having a full warrenty.

I bought a new, in package xcelorin esc from a member of this forum for $100. Well its dead now, after 8 packs, and because I dont have a reciept in S.O.L.

The gamble is that after 60 days the warrenty expires on those refurbished units. They may charge you 1/2 price or something to fix it but by that time you will be spending more than if you just buy the new, warrented one to begin with.
