Yes a 17.5 is faster than a 13.5 due to fact you can gear it higher.
Smaller spur and a large pinon.
We are talking stock class now, not mod.

Beileve me or not, Ive seen people get beat by a 17.5 all the time.

What's better depends on what you plan on doing with it. Do you already have an esc? If you are looking at racing in a roar stock class you will need the 17.5 brushless or a 27 turn brushed. I like the brushless because of the low maintenance but if you don't already have a brushless esc and you have $75 to spend you might have to stick with the brushed

Yea. You can overgear 17.5 and time it like hell but it will last only few races. But if you do the same to 13.5 it will beat that 17.5.

27turn brushed = 17.5 brushless
