forward bite and side bite terminology
#1

Hi, im kind of new to RC car terminology and set up.
to me, they mean, forward bite, to get more rear wheel traction to get the car going forward
side bite, to get the car to rotate better
is this right?
Can someone explain to me what they are correctly?

Foward bit is straight line traction (think dragrace). Side bite keeps tires from sliding sideways in a corner. The front can push and you will not turn very well. If the rear slides you can end up spinning around.
You need a combination of both to be a good setup.

Side bite and forward bite almost always refer to the traction relating to the driving tires.
Side bite creates push, understeer.
Forward bite creates loose, oversteer.
Most setup changes like spring rates or anti-roll bars create tradeoffs between side bite and forward bite. Typically setup changes that can improve both side bite and forward bite without tradeoffs are things that will always improve the performance of the car like power or stickier tires.
