My buddy and I took both cars out today to our home track, Gulf Coast Raceway in Houston. This is a Clay track probably somewhere inbetween 1/8 and 1/10 scale.

The Good: Trucks drive nice and are very well mannered. Some more tuning and a tire change and they should really haul. Had to gear up to 15t pinion from the factory 13t for the Velineon system. Was neck and neck with a Mamba 5700 in an Ofna Hyper 10SC.

The Bad: JAMMIN/OFNA PLEASE READ! They might as well not even supply you with a front bumper, thats how bad it is. Boy I hope they revise that set up.

The stock tires are not the tires for choice for a damp clay track, will be switching them out for bow-ties.

I also lost a lower hub screw and the bushing that goes with it. Need to get knurled wheel nuts, had a few tires spin off the truck.

All in all I'm pretty happy with it. Somewhat of a bummer that a new body has to be purchased to fit STANDARD SC tires but ohh well.

GravityJunkie 12-23-2009 09:04 PM

The bumper on the CRT .5 was probably the weakest piece on the truck. Now with it stretched out for the SC body, I can only imagine how brittle it is. Hopefully someone steps up aftermarket and hooks us up.

I am looking at the combo from NitroHouse--Jammin SCRT 10 4wd w/Novak Havoc & Brushless Sensored 4.5 Motor [OFN34976] and it's very tempting.

I have read through some mixed reviews of the Novak system and I am a little confused about battery choice. 2S, 3S or 4S???

I already have the Ofna 10SC with the Mamba Max 6900kv combo running off a 2S setup and it's pretty sweet, but I would also like to try the Jammin truck. The NitroHouse combo appears to be pretty good deal, but...if I have to go and buy a set of 3-4S LiPos then I think I would be better off getting another mamba setup.

Any good advice?

2s is what most people are running on the HV setup. I will be running a 2s on my Havoc/HV 4.5. I too couldn't resist the nitrohouse combo.

Awesome, thank you.
Any idea if the pinions from the ofna will work as well?
I think they are "3 mm mod 1??"
I see both sizes (3mm & 5mm) on the hop up parts tab for the Jammin.

The Jammin uses a Mod 1 spur gear so any Mod 1 pinion will work. The 3mm and 5mm refer to the bore size of the pinion. 3mm (1/8") being more common on 540 and smaller motors and the larger 5mm is more common on larger (Mamba Monster Max, Tekin R8, Neu, etc.) 1/8 scale motors.

What body is that?

CAK 12-24-2009 12:53 AM

Silver/black is Proline Desert rat for Traxxas Slayer.

Nice, does it fit perfectly using the stock mounts?

Actually after looking at it I think I will leave the bumper as is. The extra height actually protects the body better.

Servo

What kind (how much speed/torque) of servos you guys running on these 1/10 SC trucks? I run really strong servos in my 1/8's (300 oz) and they would probably be overkill in a 1/10 SC truck. What's the minimum torque I should be looking for? I am currently running a Hitec 5645MG and it has 160oz of torque but is kind of slow (0.18 secs).

Can someone tell me how Jammin justifies $100 for a CNC servo saver or $51 for a body which is much thinner than a slash body? This is ridiculous.

anything over 100oz will be good, just look for speed. .10 and under is a good enough

i personally use airtronics 94360 and 94357 servos in all my 1/10th scales (125oz/in tq and .07 speed)

Manufacturercup 12-24-2009 08:50 AM

You have to be careful when looking at the jammin/ofna pricing. They print the retail price on the header cards. Probably not what the street price is

Yeah I did a fast rattle can paint job so I could get out on the track right away. Now I would like to get another body and do a real paint job but $51 is a bit high for an unpainted shell.

shocks

I have been slowly moving optional/modified parts from my CRT.5 over to my new SCTRC10. Today I added the jato front shocks and 1/8 buggy rear shocks. First there is nothing wrong with the stock shocks, I just run big bore shocks on my 1/8's and I like the feel and consistency they provide, the larger shafts will make the suspension more rigid and reduce shaft bending. Also, I ran this setup on my CRT.5 and it was dialed. I am still waiting for my replacement front bumper so I still have the modified Slash bumper installed. I had to modify the Slash bumper to allow clearance for the larger shocks. So I made a new top brace and cut some of the plastic from the Slash bumper. The new shocks and bumper are 4.4oz heavier than stock, which is slightly offset by the Ti hinge pins I have installed, I can live with that.

4.4oz is A lot of weight to be adding.

Thanks for info, are the standard shocks on the SCRT10 the same size?

In the past I have added weight to my Associated SC10 to improve the handling. I could go back to the stock bumper and save 2.6oz. Most of the weight is in the front skid, so I may run it as is and see how it handles. I may also machine off more material from the front skid, but it may not be worth the effort.

Modified bumper adds 2.6oz and the bigger shocks add 1.8oz. I am not sure what the Ti hinge pins versus the stock steel saves me.

No.... Seriously.... I'm actually supposed to talk to either you, DJ or Dave about both the Jammin and the Hyper sometime next week.

I'm still undecided.

We will be racing this Christmas on Friday the 25 at Westcoast Raceway, so bring your Jammin.

It's big and ugly, but probably indestructable. Think it will work? Made for a CRT.5 Maybe the chassis screws will line up. But even if they don't, it's easily modded.

http://img163.imageshack.us/img163/6...crt5nr5.th.jpg

GravityJunkie 12-25-2009 11:07 AM

The CRT .5 and SCRT10 both use the same tranny cases. So, the holes should line up.

I've used their bumpers in the past. I really can't recommend them. All the pressure from a hit goes onto the screws holding the diff case on. A couple of hard hits on the top half of the bumper can cause the case holes to start stripping out.

nitroexpress 12-26-2009 12:34 AM

This may be heresy, but next go round, I'm going to put a Traxxas slayer body on my Jammin. No way am I going to pay $51 for the Jammin body. I have a slayer body from another project and it seems to fit fine on the Jammin. The back fender has room for wheel travel if the rear mount is slightly raised. Shouldn't be a problem, both body mounts are adjustable.

$35 for the Traxxas Slayer body. I just wish they wouldn't have predrilled the mounting holes. But I can cover them with decals.
