What to get 11 year old son???
My son wants to get a rc truck. Want to stay with electric. Would like to buy something that he can get some good use out of. Went to local hobby shop and looked at some used. Had Traxxas Stampede and about 4 other 2wd trucks. I think they were Losi but that is all I can tell you. What do you recomend??

My 11 and 13 year old grandsons love driving their Slashes. I would not recommend Associated SC 10 since the stretched chassis has a tendency to break. Slash or Strike would both be good. There is also a new short course truck from HPI. I think it is the Blitz. The pictures I saw looked like it was made well. I would also buy what the local hobby shop has parts for.

And if he builds it himself he'll know how to repair it.

Thanks for the replies!!!!! I realy like the idea of they being waterproof. Is Traxxas the only ones that are waterproof?

The SC10 chassis doesn't break cuz it's stretched. It breaks in the front just behind the front arm mount cuz the new front bumpers exert more leverage on the chassis during impact.
So if you are interested in the SC10 but worried about chassis breakage, just remove the front bumper. You'll lose the realism, but save the chassis.

Personally i would go with the SC10 but really its all based on your budget and what you like.
If your looking for something that you can drive just about anywhere and is very durable, go with a slash. But if you want something thats bred for racing and has tons of hop-ups go with the SC10. There both around $200 but the SC10 comes as kit or RTR while a Slash comes as just a RTR.Its basically personal preference.
Theres also other trucks like the Losi strike or the Blitz that you could check out.
