Default Medusa Motor options

Im looking to replace a VXL motor with a Medusa. The VXL motor as I understand it is 3550kv, but it has just the average can length of 1/10th motors. I need something that is a bit lower KV and a longer can that will run cooler and have more torque than the vxl which is will be replacing. Medusa seemed to be the way to go.

The truck I am running it in is a smaller 1/10th monster truck. Its 4wd and pretty light since all of the nitro stuff has been pulled from it. The truck ran great with the vxl motor in it but on 2s was just a bit too slow for me. I stepped up to 3s and the truck was perfect. Just around 40mph maybe a tad faster, with enough torque to flip it on its lid from a roll. Really ran great. My MM esc was running at about 140 with a novak fan mounted ontop, but the vxl motor hit 185 and the shaft snapped. Hence why I want to replace it with something with a bit lower kv, longer can, and more efficient build. Medusa is the way I turned, but if there are other options with the same can width Im open to whatever. Medusa just seemed to be the best.

SOOO let me know what you think guys and gals. Thanks.

Sounds like the Medusa Afterburner V2 3300kv is right for you. Which truck are you using it in? its available in 5mm shaft too if you are using 32P pinion gears.

Weird. I heard that Medusa motors where really nice. Maybe just a bad batch or possibly even user error?

Anyone else have any input for me?

I have an e revo , sc10 and a slash that have medusA motors in them. They run cooler by far then everything else I've tried except a neu motor and even then it was very close. They have lots of torque and run cool. Just make sure you seal the air holes with tape so dirt doesn't get in. Also these motors unlike others like a bit of timing. If your using a mamba max which is what I would recomend for a 4 pole motor like this use 12 degrees of timing and it will run way cooler then 0 degrees trust me. Also the vxl esc won't run a 4 pole motor like this just incase you wanna use one.

I've had a Medusa 36-60-2000kv in a Jammin X1CR buggy and a Traxxas Nitro Revo converted. Heaps of power, highest temp I ever saw was 160f and that was on a 100 degree day after a 10 minute run and I'd forgotten to put the heatsink on the motor.

Well here is what I have and you guys tell me what to buy.

-Tekno rc electriclutch with the quickest springs in it
-Tekno rc motor mount (one that fits the castle and vxl size motor)
-mamba maxx esc (so i can run a bit of timing)
-and I wanted to keep running it on 3s since the truck doesnt have alot of room for more batteries.

That's the motor I wanted to run, but I can't find it anywhere. Anybody know if they are available?

Did you give Medusa a call - maybe they're late in updating their web site.
Probably out of stock there.

MR-036-050-3300V2-5 = that's the part #, right?

If its in stock let me know. You think that is the motor that I want to go with for this application?

So i would have to get a different electri-clutch adapter to go up to 5mm right? That may be a really good idea actually since the vxl motor snapped its shaft off.
