Default Castle 5700 Strange Sound?

Just wondering what my castle 5700 should sound like NOT under load, just turning both wheels by hand. To me, it sounds gritty. It doesn't FEEL gritty, but sounds like there are no bearings. I am only comparing this to my novak 7.5 motor. It runs fine (a little warm in my slash, as people have warned!) but am concerned slightly. Thanks guys!

Are you sure it is not in the tranny or maybe the bearings in the tranny and or motor could use some lube.

I just had a weird grinding sound and thought it was my motor, it was because my pinion and spur were a little too tight which caused the weird annoying grinding sound. It sounded like it was coming from my motor though.

Well, I checked the diff, no play. I checked the spur, not rubbing. So, I removed the motor and the sound is coming from what sounds like pinion side bearing. It is a slight squeaky, very fine sandpaper rubbing sound. High pitched. Not what I would expect from a bearing. Now, this could still be perfectly normal, but is very different from my other motors. It seems to run fine. Any ideas? I will bring it by my hobby shop tomorrow, the owner uses castle motors. Otherwise, how is Castle service? Thanks again.

Well, I tried lubing them from the outside, then called castle. They said the motor was never intended to be opened...ever. News to me. They are sending me a new one, and I will ship mine upon arrival. They seem to be a great company. Thanks for all your help.
