My opinion (which is only worth 2 cents)
RTR with stock 2700KV motor and 4S1P? Gonna be fast too. I wonder what the stock gearing is? Maybe too fast for an RTR, really. If the ESC supports it, they should also sell a wiring option to run the two supplied LiPos as 2S2P. Racers will dial-down the setup to maybe a 2000kv motor to get more runtime.
The RTR there, as supplied, would probably make 8-9 minutes in a race.
Target market is probably hobby shops where they supply the broken parks for those guys who buy them and put them on the road for speed runs. Like the 70 mph 4-Tecs that came out. I know a shop owner who says a lot of guys need parts before they use up the first charge on their packs.

The noobs who are wanting a basher will most likely appreciate the speed thats for sure. They also have a truggy option on the way too that appears to be priced the same as a buggy.
I also like the fact that it has big bores. For a RTR thats a nice feature.
Any more pics available Tim?

I know what I want for X-Mas! TIM also sent you an e-mail through product support @mrc.

I don't know, is there such a thing as too fast?!?! Maybe I'll include and addendum to show how to easily knock down the top end. Both the ESC and the transmitter are fully programmable, with the transmitter showing the throttle curve, so it's real easy to adjust it down. Thanks for the input.

A 2700 motor on 4s is going to be rough on batteries and esc's. If this isn't set in stone yet I would really recommend knocking this down to a 2000 rpm/v motor.
Other than that, the car looks pretty nice. Will there be a "Roller" version as well? Not all beginners to 1/8th need another radio or two more battery packs.

The way I figured it, was that the batteries are 25C 4000's, so they can handle 100 amps draw each with 200 amp bursts, the ESC is rated at 120 amps. That should be enough to handle whatever the motor will thow at it. They offer a 2050kv as an option which we'll be carrying, but for the RTR I wanted it to be really fast out of the box. As I said, the top end can always be dialed down.
I'll be working on the Roller next, after the Truggy I hope.

Choosing the right guts is important. One of the few flaws of the Slash was the Titan motor they put in. Not good for too long. Sells lots of replacements at the hobby shop.
The 2700kv + 4S may lead to some hot motors and eventual demagnetized motors - so that is where you can sell them the 2050kv motors to "calm the car down". However, there are even higher KV motors available for the hot-rodder who wants to go even hotter.
I guess it's hard to deliver a product to the general public and try to please everyone. "Making it fast" is a great marketing direction - other RC vendors do it. But once the cars are 70mph and 8.5 lbs, they become dangerous for kids and even us silly adults. A 60mph Recoil would be one thing but get hit with a 1/8 buggy at top-speed and you can break bones. I even broke a bone avoiding one - marshalling a 1/8 race, twisted my foot dodging a car that was in the air and popped a bone.
