Default Help! Car won't go! :(

LOL so I'm a total n00b and it's probably something simple.

I bought my first car last night...

Traxxas Rustler VXL brushless... and purchased a Venom NiMH 5000 8.4V 7 cell battery and a charger that can handle everything up to LiPo and LiFe batteries.

I set the charger to match the battery, 5000mAh cap., 3.0amp, and all that. It charged for 50 mins and shut off due to the S_TIMEOUT or TIMEOUT was at 50mins for some reason...

I get the car all setup for the first time... setup the transmitter... all that jazz... plug in the battery pack... turn on the receiver... press the "EZ SET" button... the car starts up and I go like 10 ft and it just stops working... then I notice a red light flashing in the car... I read something in the owners manual that lead me to believe the LED has something to do with Low Voltage Detection???

So I figure the battery wasn't fully charged or something so I put it back on the charger and let it go for 120 mins... but it said completed and it only said chrg time was 59 mins so I assume it just automatically cut off.

The other thing I noticed was on the Venom battery box it says DO NOT TRICKLE CHARGE batteries... but when I first charged it for the 50mins there was a like 150mA trickle setting turned on... hope that didn't hurt the battery.

The second time I charged it I put TRICKLE to 0mA so I guess that means it's not going to trickle? I'm confused...

I can't seem to get the car to run for very long and I have no idea what I'm doing wrong...

Any clues would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

RCDad is correct you have the LVC turned on in the esc. It needs to be off when you run NimH packs. Follow the directions in the manual on how to disablr the LVC for NimH.

the Red LED indicates low voltage cut off. Press and hold the buttom on the ESC for 10 seconds then you will hear a tone. This will turn off LVC. you should get more run time like this.

Make sure batt is getting hot when charging - if it shuts off early or isn't getting hot when charging, its prob false peaking.

Charge it again.
