E-revo batteries

I just found a nice 11.1 volt battery for a traxxas 4900 mah, it's a lipo battery too. I was just wondering if you could run it on a 1/16 e-revo. It's a 3 cell by the way.

Yes, you can, 1/16th E-Revo stock esc is 2S and 3S rated.

So you can run 3s on a stock e-revo? Also can you run lipo on a stock e-revo? Because I fond some lipo esc speed controllers.

no the stock esc can handle 2s 3s lipos

Your orig ques was on the 16th E-Revo which comes witha 2S and 3S rated VXL brushless setup. The Stock E-Revo is diff, it runs brushed motors with the brushed evx-2 esc.

Most run a pr of 2S lipos in the stock E-Revo - the esc puts them in series for the equivalent of 4S. If you're asking about a pair of 3S lipos with stock wiring - no, you can't thats the equivalent of 6S at the esc (25.2v).

You have to add some kind of low voltage cutoff to prevent the lipos from being overdischarged and possibly damaged if you're going to use them in a strock E-Revo.

I didn't really mean to say stock e-revo.I meant to say stock e-revo vxl.

Yea I think I get it now. With that 11.1 3s lipo that's the most that I can run on my vxl at one time.

4900mah sounds a little high. I would make sure the dimensions are correct to fit in the 1/16th E-Revo. I think the biggest 3 cell lipo so far that fits a 1/16th E-Revo is a 1600mah. Of course, you can always run it in parallel to get more run time.

i think that 4900 mah is a little much for that little car

I'd have to agree. Monitor your temps or you may overheat before using all of that battery.

Alright thanks guys.:)

Hello, im kinda new to the RC car gange, and i have been running my e-revo stock set-up for about a month now. recently my one my cells on a batter pack pretty much burned out. Im not sure if it do to me being here in Iraq where im currently deployed due to the heat?? but i usely run it late in the evening so i wouldnt run into that problem....either way i did. So now i need 2 new batteries for the e-revo stock version. Could i please get some seggestions on some low cost batteries that will still do well ??? only because im here deployed to Iraq is why i want ot go little cheaper. and then go big when i return home to the U.S . please help a new guy out. aslo could i get a few hobby shops people perfer that would ship part to Iraq APO AE address??

I would go to www.maxamps.com. They have lots of selections and you can customize your batteries. I would go with a 3s 11.1v 4000mah battery but it'll probably be about $135 plus shipping. You might need to run a different gear in the car if you run a 3s lipo and such a high voltage

revostevens 08-05-2009 05:47 PM

ok, ill head to maxamp and look around. what do you think i should do with the different gearing then if i go with lipo??? currently im all stock.

thanks for helping
