Is this really worth the 200+ bucks? If so, why?

Not at all worth it and it will likely be killed with Brushless power.

It has a different worth to everyone. How much would you pay to go a second a lap faster? Let me rephrase that, how much would you pay to "think" you were going a second a lap faster? Most people don't even tune the car they have, and they think throwing expensive gadgets at it will make them faster.

Exactly, more people I know dont run expensive stuff in thier cars.
For the whole set it would be over 400 dollars. You can almost buy a
new RC for that.

I really don't believe that diff will work with brushless power either. I witnessed a Losi 8ight E unload a center smart diff. The front tires literally blew off the front rims from ballooning. These types of diffs are supposed to prevent this from happening. However, I don't believe companies are testing them under the extreme power that brushless motors deliver.
